Bill O'Reilly
These are great times to be a snarky webloggist. I mean we have the California Tournement of Dunces (except Arianna and (maybe) Bustemonte). And we have the amusing spectacle of Bill O'Reilly proving what a crybaby he is.

For those of you wondering exactly what is going through Mr. O'Reilly's head as he gives millions in free publicity to Mr. Franken --> http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,94702,00.html

It's the tired cliche of Franken trying to destroy his lively hood combined with the new fangled attack on the New York times. He's got a surprisingly thin skin it turns out.

For further commentary and humor (such as it is) --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

2. Is he really this illiterate, or does he just hire illiterates to ghost?
I'd be embarrassed if this appeared under MY name:

I wonder if The Times thought that Donald Sagretti was funny when he manufactured dirt to hurt Richard Nixon's political opponents. (Bill: it's S-E-G-R-E-T-T-I. Nice research.)

There's no question that many of the attacks launched against FOX personnel are designed to injury and demean.
(Note: I'm sure you mean "injure")

It's unfortunate, but in this country, if you're successful or famous, many courts will allow defamation, slander and liable to go unpunished.
(As NickDanger pointed out, its "libel")

But once again, that's not the issue here. The point is accountability. We are shining a spotlight on the haters and the enablers. You can decide if that spotlight is aimed in the right direction.
(Except that you've already decided who the "haters and enablers" are)

Talking Points cannot understand how people could side with the defamers and their pals. But it's important to know just who these people are.
(Franken hasn't exactly kept his identity a secret, Bill)

For as Don Corleone once said, "kept your friends close, but your enemies closer." (WHaaaaaa?? How does that even relate?) :wtf:

7. you know, if he spelled correctly,
and used the appropriate words, his freeper audience wouldn't have a clue what's he talking about. actually, i'm surprised that so many words are correct, it must be very taxing on the intended audience's intellect to decipher this piece.

8. Mollly Ivins says if it weren't for Bill O'Reilly, we wouldn't be....
having any fun at all. (She's referring to the Faux News lawsuit against Al Franken.)

<snip>

The lawsuit accuses Franken of being "deranged," "a parasite," "sophomoric" and lacking "any serious depth or insight." That certainly proves O'Reilly doesn't lie like a rug. I got caught in a verbal slugfest between the two of them recently in Los Angeles. The high point was when O'Reilly cleverly riposted Franken's account of his lies by screaming: "Shut up! Shut up!" A particularly sound argument, I thought.

Franken, in turn, said, "Bill, we're not on Fox News."

I honestly thought the veins in O'Really's neck were gonna burst he was so pissed at Al.

10. Here's a link to the June 14 NU Radio essay on O'Reilly
The author reads them about 11:30AM every Saturday on http://www.thisishell.net from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Terrific show from Northwestern University radio.

This one ridicules O'Reilly's use of the words "Oh, come on" as argument.

11. Farce... you keep using that word...
I think it was funny what he said in this column of his.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ideas_opinions/story/109845p-99223c.html

I keep thinking about the line from Princess Bride.

Vizzini (aka OReilly): Oh, come on. That Al Franken, he's a
Farce/not a Satirist/a liar.
Inigo: You keep using that word? I do not think it means
what you think it means...
