Streaker at Super Bowl Guilty of Trespass

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Texas jury on Monday found a British streaker guilty of criminal trespassing for racing onto the field during the Super Bowl in February with only a thong and a smile.

Roberts said he has been arrested many times but never convicted of a crime in connection with streaking.

But prosecutor Kristin Guiney argued that Roberts' antics could not be tolerated in post-Sept. 11 America.

"As light-hearted about this as I'd like to be, we don't live in a society anymore where we can excuse this kind of behavior," she told the jury.

3. What's the connection between streaking and Sept 11th?

Or is this now just an all-purpose saying for pathetic prosecutors? Can we look forward to the maximum fine and sentence possible for Ken Lay, because "this sort of thing can't be tolerated in post-Sept 11 America"? How about post-Pearl Harbor America? Do you add a bit on to the sentence for that too?

Seriously, what's the connection between Sept 11th and streaking at the SuperBowl? I just can't see it. Is it a Texas thing?

I'm guessing here, because my brain is fully developed, and I sometimes have trouble thinking like these thimblepricked simpletons, but I assume that, IN THEORY, someone who is trespassing could be doing so in order to further a nefarious terrorist plot. Which is true, I guess. Granted, the 9/11 attacks were actually pulled off without any instances of trespassing, but I could see how it might be possible.

Someone might trespass at the stadium and sneak a bomb or a nerve agent into the building. Of course, the person responsible for that action would probably, you know, have clothes. If for no better reason than to conceal the weapon. It's Zero Tolerance gone about ten steps too far.
