Congress approved $801 billion for millionaires, & $57 billion for unemployed.
Congress at midnight Thursday approved an $801 billion package of tax cuts and $57 billion for extended unemployment insurance. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/17/us/politics/17cong.html?_r=2&hp

These lopsided figures are outrages.... 801vs57?
Some justify two years of extended tax cuts but minimize talk about the terrific deficit it is creating. In fact the deficit problem only comes into play when talk turns to assistance for the working people or the poor....The millionaires in Congress just gave themselves a heck of a Bipartisan Christmas gift... Also in Bipartisan union the Washington elite have asked the poor and working class to stop complaining because it was the best they could do.... I'm sure it was the best they could do. And this is where bipartisan change begins.... The change is that:

The poor/middle class should not be financing another plane, yacht, or sports car for those who already have them...

They poor/middle class should not be harassed because they require medical, education, and food like the rich require it...

The poor/middle class should not become cannon fodder or free prison labor to subsidize the unsustainable life style of the rich and powerful....

The poor/middle class should be able to count on its public servants serving them in bipartisan union too....

1. It is an abandonment of fiscal responsibility
And an embrace of failed supply side economics. This is the beginning of the end of the US as we know it. What I want to know is what will happen after we default on the national debt?

3. Those figures are complete lies.
Only $130 billion goes to tax cuts for people making more than $250,000 per year. $600 billion of it goes to tax cuts for working and middle class people.

4. Where do you get $800 billion "for millionaires"?
The bulk of that tax cut is for people making less than $200,000. Like, 7/8ths of it.

5. I'm unrecommending this thread, for what appers to be a false assertion in behalf of
an anti-Obama agenda. Those figures should be capable of unambiguous confirmation/refutation by web-search. If they should prove to be true, I'll make a later posting to apologize for that un-recommendation. Promise!

8. Sorry that this news appears so distressing that it gets lumped into anti-Obama.
But the fact of the matter is, that another financial give away for the wealthy has just accrued. Our country can do better than what has been passing for "this is the best I could do" comments. First of all if we are really being held hostage, stop negotiating with these hostage takers.

10. The main problem is your "numbers", which have been challenged outright
by other DUers on this thread. That's a valid reason to look at it with deep suspicion. Of course, if you have a credible source........

12. Can you please show me where you think the bulk of the tax
cut is for people making less than 200,000. Because at this time, I think you are incorrect with that information.
