Do Republicans Hate Small Business?
Often politics and business mix in a big way. Small Business America is no exception. Access to credit for small business, sole proprietors and entrepreneurs in the United States is in dire straits according to every walking & talking politician out there from the Big O to the Fed Chief to elected officials from both political parties. Yet nowhere is any real and effective help forthcoming.

The recent Small Business Jobs and Credit Act was shot down with filibuster assault rifles by the entire Republican Senate. The act included tax incentives and federal lending guarantees. Even one of the authors of the small business bill Olympia Snowe, the moderate Republican Senator from Maine, voted "No."

Guys and Gals, while you are fighting amongst yourselves for power and privilege, Small Business America is sinking like the Titanic!

Why did the Senate torpedo such hopeful help for the nation's entrepreneurs? Because according to opponents, it's a mini-TARP. "It has
all the quality and features of the TARP program, " said Snowe.

1. Credit?
Small businesses need more debt?

No.

Small businesses need to minimize the time and money spent on complying with government demands. What government can do is make fewer demands of small business (i.e. get the fuck out of the way of people who are being productive) so that they can stay in business longer and hire more people.

(Cue the flood of know-it-alls who have never actually run a small business and probably don't know anyone who does, either)

2. Help me out.
The government didn't establish these laws and rules out of the blue. My understanding is that the reporting has been made mandatory because various businesses/individuals have acted irresponsibly/illegally.

5. That's the way regulation starts out
Then it soon evolves into the means where the big players in an industry infiltrate the regulatory boards, preventing by any way possible the entry of new businesses into the field, while slowly bleeding the smaller entities to death, so they're ripe candidates for takeover.

7. Bingo
either takeover or just choking the competition to death with taxes and regulation. Meanwhile the big players with political pull and more money than a small business could ever dream of having write themselves all sorts of boutique exemptions and deductions into law, courtesy of their pet legislators.

It has gotten so bad that a child can't set up a lemonade stand without being harassed by bureaucrats (who obviously have nothing better to do).

4. No, they hate President Barack Obama
They think he's an abomination to the Presidency and should be impeached. So they won't do anything that will make him look good.
