While one white South African struggles to hold onto his controversial refugee status in Canada, evidence suggests many others are looking to move back home.

... figures from removals companies indicate that the number of people returning is steadily increasing.

The report quoted Charles Luyckx, chief executive of Elliott International, as saying the number of South Africans using his company’s services to return home in the past few months – approximately 60 per month – has almost doubled from the same period last year. Luyckx estimated that Elliott has a market share of between 25 and 30 percent.

Another company, Stuttaford Van Lines, said it had handled 80 repatriations in the second quarter of 2009 – a third more than in the same period last year.

Luyckx said that while four South Africans were leaving for every one returning last year, this figure was now closer to one to one ...

Formerly excluded blacks have had time to move into society, bringing many with them and helping raise standards.
While the country has problems in the health care area, there is not the denial like here.
