Back at work, Palin vents a bit over campaign criticism
Source: Sean Cockerham & Kyle Hopkins Anchorage Daily News

OUT OF CONTEXT: Governor says some in national media were unprofessional

Gov. Sarah Palin returned to work in her Anchorage office Friday afternoon and spoke out against anonymously sourced stories critical of her behavior on the campaign trail, saying "its immature, its unprofessional and those guys are jerks."

I'm once again speechless at the ignorance of Gov. Palin...

2. And she has a degree in
Journalism?! Good Lord, how on earth did she graduate from college -- even a crappy one? If I hear one more person say, "Oh, I think she's bright," the way Paul Begala did last night on Bill Maher's show, I may lose my shit.

She's obviously utterly ruthless and corrupt with a low-animal cunning. But I'm surprised she can remember to dress herself properly. Alaskans, please 'splain how on earth this woman had an almost 80% popularity rating at one time. Ye gods.

wealth redistributed from the oil companies?

8. She was popular by contrast.

It's important to remember who her predecessor was -- the very corrupt and universally hated Frank Murkowski, who, at the time he left office, had the lowest approval rating of any governor in the country. Sarah had a history of whistle-blowing on Republican corruption (which in retrospect was probably a power grab, but, of course, we didn't know that at the time) and so when she promised to govern in an open and transparent way, we had no reason to doubt her. As governor, one of the first things she did was get an ethics reform law passed, and then she set about to undo the unpopular oil tax scheme that Murkowski had been trying to ram through the legislature (which was the basis for the VECO corruption indictments that came later). The Democrats were happy to join with her on this, raising the taxes on Big Oil, which with the price of oil so high, really helped the state's bottom line fiscally. (We are an oil fiefdom, after all.)

The third thing that made her popular was her push for a natural gas line which is something that many Alaskans have been after for over 30 years. Of course, there were disagreements over the route and who would control, some people favoring Trans-Canada and others wanting an all-Alaska line following the route of the existing Trans-Alaska oil pipeline, but ANY movement on a gas line was seen as a good thing.

The heavy partisanship and fundie wing-nuttery were never apparent in her governing style here, at least as governor, and whatever went on out in Wasilla when she was mayor had been kept pretty much under wraps. We were amazed at the persona she presented on the national stage.

This is probably more than you want to know, but there really were some pretty legitimate reasons for her to be a popular governor at the time. So much has been uncovered during the national campaign that's embarrassing to us, but we honestly didn't know about 90% of it. In some ways McCain did us a big favor by stripping us of our naivete. Alaskans are generally friendly people and trusting and want to believe the best of people. The past couple of years with all the indictments, the downfall of Ted Stevens, and the unveiling of Sarah have been like a political earthquake up here. We're an isolated state, with a very small population -- we're almost all like family up here, everybody knows everybody -- so this has all been pretty shocking.

12. Actually, I knew a lot of what you said...
And I don't really blame Alaskans at all. I live in Texas and what a massive cock up we've made of things. (And, good heaven's no, I didn't vote for Dubya. I grew up in Houston and was all too well aware of the horror-show that is the Bush family.)

I'm just staggered by how dreadful she is. Now that she has no buffer, it's becoming clearer and clearer that she's ill-tempered, petulant, and just plain downright nasty. And I have to say, she did a very clever job of hiding that.

politically, with very little to back her up intellectually. That makes her particularly dangerous in my mind. I usually have a pretty good political sense, but she even had me fooled before this VP debacle (although I would never have voted for her).

27. A Face in the Crowd
I've been thinking about that movie ever since the first time I saw her speak. Anyone who hasn't seen it should do so; the folksy, plain-spoken act that covers a grubbing, power hungry psychopath who clambers up the backs of the very "just plain folks" he claims to represent is pitch perfect Palin.

From the article:
"If there are allegations based on questions or comments I made in debate prep about NAFTA, about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context. And that's cruel, it's mean-spirited, it's immature, it's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it taking things out of context, then tried to spread something on national news. It's not fair, it's not right," Palin said.

OK, Sarah.
Then out with it!
Prove the sources wrong.
Provide evidence that you are not dumber than a box of rocks.

7. to quote a recently derailed VP candiddate
"it's not mean spirited to ask questions, America deserves to know the truth about " Sarah Palin "and her associations" and her "knowledge".

SO, Sarah, were you right before, when you were so mean-spiritedly attacking President Obama, or are you right now, as you claim any "out of context" quotes are mean-spirited, petty, and the behavior of JERKS.

Methinks you just called yourself a jerk. Have a great day, three time loser.

10. Hey stupid, repugs already tried demonizing the press.
It didn't work. It's not the media's fault you can't answer a question. Nobody 'tricked' you except your own party. Nobody asked 'unfair' questions. You stabbed McCain in the back by going rogue and refusing to cooperate. You thought you knew better. Well, you didn't. You're not the darling of the repug party, you're a footnote. 4 years from now when this country knows the full extent of your treason, you will be discarded by the folks who foolishly put you on the national stage. No one forced you to take those clothes. YOU picked them out. No one forced you to ignore direction from the McCain camp, you did that on your own. You're an amateur that got a lucky break and froze when it came time to prove yourself. You'll never win an election when only the fundie base of your party can stand the sight of you.

13. Jerks - now THERE is a professional word! Sheesh....
What is it about her disliking the media so much? I have to wonder, because the Republicans are famous for projecting, seeing themselves in others and complaining about it. Being a journalism major, she definitely has some issues around that. Jealousy, perhaps? I don't know, but her negativity about the media is more than just dislike.

19. yes, that was a very interesting remark. she PROVES the allegations every time she opens her mouth.
and the whole thing with the clothes--if they are the property of the rnc, then WHY were they "in the belly of the plane" that took her back to moose-hunting? if truly the property of the rnc, then wouldn't she have left them in the last hotel room?

that woman is an ill-spoken, clueless idiot, but an ambitious and cunning twit. I told several people that, in the unlikely event that mclame won, if I were him, I would employ a food taster. she is completely untrustworthy

24. I thought that was funny....
She was all "no party officials are up here going through my closets."

As if. It is her responsibility to return everything and if she doesn't they won't be sending a lawyer with a truck .. they will be sending an invoice with a demand for repayment. If she still balks there will be a Notice of Complaint and a lawsuit that very well may bring her back to Washington, as a defendant.

26. "Palin reflects on her run" by Sean Cockerham (11-9-2008 Anchorage Daily News)
"The defeat, the future and the critics all addressed

Gov. Sarah Palin blames the Bush administration for the failure of the McCain-Palin ticket, thinks people need to move on from the so-called 'Troopergate' controversy and has no regrets about state per diem for time spent at her home in Wasilla or state-funded travel for her children."
