WSJ: Pity Party, NOONAN: Republicans 'falling apart... dying'...
Pity Party

http://online.wsj.com/article/declarations.html

"Members and pundits . . . fail to understand the deep seated antipathy toward the president, the war, gas prices, the economy, foreclosures," said Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia in a 20-page memo to House GOP leaders.

imo: The truth is THEY (The GOP) JUST DON"T GET IT! They have failed Americans spectacularly for so long and on so many fronts. The Sheeple have finally figured it out and connected ENOUGH of the dots. It's Throw The Bumbs Out" time

THIS IS A REPUBLICAN ECONOMY

THIS IS A REPUBLICAN WAR

THIS IS A REPUBLICAN MANAGED GOVERNMENT THAT IS FAILING US DAILY (Katrina?)

They absolutely refuse to hold themselves accountable for their policies and the resulting effects.

3. Clarke Reed of Mississippi, one of the architects of Southern Republicanism, sez:
(In answer to the question: Is the Republican solid South over?)

"Yeah. Oh yeah." He said, "I eat lunch every day at Buck's Cafe. Obama's picture is all over the wall."

8. She said it
From the article:

"Most party leaders in Washington are stupid – detached, played out, stuck in the wisdom they learned when they were coming up, in '78 or '82 or '94. Whatever they learned then, they think pertains now."

If that ain't the truth, I don't know what is!

9. Best line in the article:
"This was a real wakeup call for us," someone named Robert M. Duncan, who is chairman of the Republican National Committee, told the New York Times. This was after Mississippi. "We can't let the Democrats take our issues." And those issues would be? "We can't let them pretend to be conservatives," he continued. Why not? Republicans pretend to be conservative every day.

Burn!

"They're frozen, not like a deer in the headlights but a deer in the darkness, his ears stiff at the sound. Crunch. Twig. Hunting party."

Hunting party? More like a lynch mob. Effing bastards. :nopity:

12. Actually quite good....
Noonan is hardly the only person making these points, but she's packed a lot of good ones into this article.

14. My God---A Peggy Noonan Column I Actually Like

I have regularly trashed Peggy Noonan here at DU, believing her to be a talentless hack who shouldn't be writing for any publication larger than a neighborhood events sheet. But I have to admit, this latest column is a terrific, unblinking depiction of the Republican implosion. I think Noonan can't forgive Dubya for bringing Saint Ronald Reagan's era to a screeching halt.....
