Dowd does it again
Still clinging to her script. In Dowd's world, women are men, men are women, and no Democrat is ever good enough to ask her to the prom.
And when historians trace how her inevitability dissolved, they will surely note this paradox: The first serious female candidate for president was rejected by voters drawn to the more feminine management style of her male rival...

...she only belatedly realized that many Democratic and independent voters, especially women, were eager to move from hard-power locker-room tactics to a soft-power sewing circle approach...

...Less towel-snapping and more towel color coordinating, less steroids and more sensitivity.

Wow, she's back to earth tones again.

Americans would like to see their government focus more on those staples of female fiction: relationships and conversation.

At first in Austin, Hillary did not channel Jane Austen. She tried once more to cast Obama as a weak sister on his willingness to talk to Raúl Castro.

Obama tapped into his inner chick and turned the other cheek...

I hate to even provide a link to this drek. Who would have thought that a person could make a living turning political theater into gender-confused Harlequin romances?

1. feminine management style of her male rival" -better than saying we expect the left to be screwed by
Obama's need for GOP love as he "changes the atmosphere in DC"

2. more feminine management style?
WTF is wrong with Dowd? Oh and by the way, by 'Obama's management style' she seems to mean the strategy of building large networks of local support groups - 'sewing circles' in Dowds twisted sexology. This is not exactly a new strategy or a particularly feminine one.

Dowd is an asshole, and assholes have no gender,

5. I'm highly suspicious that Dowd has not had a fulfilling relationship with a male. Ever.
Daddy, the kid she first kissed in grade school, the goofy seventh grader who ditched her at the dance in Middle School, the bastard who stood her up for the Homecoming Dance, the only sorority sister to never get a "date" at a drunken frat party, etc etc etc.

(Before the usual suspects rip me a new asshole for being a misogynist -- give me the name of any male for whom she has deep respect, and I will retract this entire post.)

12. A non-gendered extraterrestrial did her wrong.
You don't think she cares for any human being of any gender, do you? She only likes blue things with multiple tentacles, like that alien on The Fairly OddParents. And the blue tentacled things love it too, since they can shove a couple of tentacles in her mouth and shut her up.

4. Excellent thread title! I have always felt that Dowd allows her inner frustration with life ...
... to leak into her writing of commentary. She must be reaching somebody, but it certainly isn't me.

6. I don't care to speculate about her personal life,
but her column really sucks.

This blase', eye-rolling, pseudo-sophisticated, Sex In The City attitude as she cranks out one-liners that aren't nearly as funny or as insightful as Bill Maher's -- she is not worth reading.

7. I agree with her on one point -
"Americans would like to see their government focus more on those staples of female fiction: relationships and conversation."

Although I most strongly take issue with her personification of relationships and conversation as "staples of female fiction." Rather, it seems to me, these are the very basis of a civilized society.

9. Dowd's days are over.
She has little talent and seems more suited to one of the entertainment "magazines" on TV. But as the Times fades away so will Maureen.

11. clearly not getting her daily dosage of REAL manlove.
That's what happens when you hang around tweed-wearing weenie elitists and not enough steelworkers. Too much psychobabble and not enough reality.
