Lamestream media inciting 'Superbug' mass hysteria

MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. The lamestream media has labeled it the 'Superbug'. You can read all about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methicillin-resistant_Staphylococcus_aureus

MRSA is now commonly found all over the entire planet. In my ER we typically see 15-20 cases of MRSA related illness EVERY SINGLE DAY! So why is it that people are wasting a lot of time and money to close entire school systems to "disinfect facilities" which will within a few days have MRSA all over them as soon as the kids return to school?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/27/mrsa.school.cleaning.ap/index.html

Why are parents wanting to blame school systems? Why all the recent media coverage over a problem that has been ongoing for many YEARS?
The correct answer is this is a prime example of LAMESTREAM MEDIA INDUCED MASS HYSTERIA! MRSA is everywhere. It is on your keyboard right now as you read this text! It is on your table, your car, your tv, your shoes, etc. So closing schools to clean may waste a lot of money to make parents 'feel better' but it will have basically zero effect on the incidence of MRSA infections. Good PERSONAL hygeine is the way to stop MRSA not closing school systems! So that is why I say "Go F*** Yourselves Lamestream Media Whores! You guys are part of "The Problem"!

Ben

Authors Bio: My "day job" is ER physician where I work mostly night shifts ;) I am also a published writer, photographer, painter, surfer, computer geek, website owner/designer, musician, etc. Early on in this new millenium, I became somewhat known as the guitarist/vocalist for dR. O ( http://www.myspace.com/odro )whom Yahoo Internet Life magazine proclaimed as the "Supergroup of Cyberspace" due to our having listeners in over 100 countries with more # 1 songs on MP3.COM than any band on the planet. Shortly afterwards the major record labels bought MP3.COM and ruined the site. On 091104, I staged a 1 man protest of the Dubya Gump admin at the UN building as can be seen in the video on youtube. Then on 090805 after Katrina destroyed everything and The Dick and Dubya exhibited gross incompetence I essentially 'PUNKD' The Dick by saying "Go F Yourself Mr. Cheney". Luckily, the S.S. didn't find the videotape of the incident that I had hidden in the bushes and so it was later featured in Spike Lee's "When The Levees Broke". I recently performed the "Go F Yourself Mr. Cheney" song in front of the White House on 091107 because I believe that we must encourage Congress to IMPEACH NOW not because of his past crimes but primarily because if Dubya Gump is left in power he will start a war with Iran and Iran just happens to be the #1 source of energy for Russia and China i.e. a war on Iran = a war with Russia and China = a war we LOSE big time so we must IMPEACH NOW!!!!!!!!! cya Ben -The sad reality is that Dick + Bush = Screwed!- -The only thing we have to fear is REALITY itself- -if we live by the poll we shall die by the poll-

1. Too bad Dr Ben Marble wasn't at the hospital my Mother
contracted a MRSA infection that killed her 5 years ago. My mother and my family learned about MRSA the hard way as did thousands of others.

My mother bypass surgery. The infection followed the path of where the tubing was put in to bypass blocked arteries in her leg.

Thank God for the nurses who spotted it. They spoke up to the doctors about it. The sad part was it took 4 days for the doctors to "officially" diagnose it. Mom was then transferred to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. The doctors there tried like hell to save her but it was too late. She died 3 weeks later. I will never get over this.

People thought I was nuts five years ago. Maybe they will pay more attention now.

W has been cutting everything--hospitals were one of the first victims of the tax rebates.

2. This year it has become reportable....

and folks are in a snit. I work in an elementary schools. We talk about hygiene until we are blue in the face. Parents don't listen, kids don't listen and this is suppose to be MY problem? We had an outbreak of this 2 years ago and I had to jump through all kinds of hoops just to find out what it was. The good thing was that I made friends with some epidemiologists with the city.

If I a nickle for every time parent gave their kids tylenol and sent them to school with a fever-I could retire from School Nursing a rich woman. Parents don't listen and don't care about things like this. And even when I can restrict their kids from coming back for a day-they yell and call me all kinds of things for standing my ground. And as soon as they can-they dump their poor barely recovered kids back into school.

Epidemiology is a hobby with me and I will tell you that our basic standard are pitiful.
The reason we haven't had more problems with infections is that we have had great antibiotics. But now the bacteria has become resistant to antibiotics. At first this was a problem in the hospitals (for some time now). Hospitals have done fairly well to contain this-but now the genie is out of the bottle.

I watched the SAR's take root in Canada-almost from the minutes it first came on the radar (with in a week). I knew where these types of diseases came from and crossed my fingers. Luckily it broke out in Canada-and their health care system is great. Had it hit here-it would have been a different story. I was able to communicate with a Nurse in the hospital and got first hand info.

Sadly, this country and media have been chasing the wrong demons and have learned nothing. While Bush started this war on terrorism and pumping millions of dollars to his friends....the nations supply of tetanus vaccine and DPT dwindle to such low levels that only hospital ER's and infants were getting doses.

And what about health care workers that stay behind to help out in a crisis???? They don't get the support they need from the government. Instead they get slapped with career ending law suits by a DA wanting to make a name for himself (this happened in NOLA).

As a health care professional-I can say that I will help my neighbours, friends and family....but I will not be forced to work (as we frequently are these days)at a hospital for something like this-I don't care how many edicts the government issues. I know what happens here during hurricanes and I will not sacrifice the safety and well being of my family for a government that runs around like a chicken with their head cut off-and has the same amount of smarts.

Oh, and my family...my daughter carries around her own sanitizer and has since she was 10 and I have forever. My work clothes go in a special hamper and cleaned separately. We don't miss flu shots and we all enjoy great health.

3. George and His Cronies Have Been Dismantling Public Health Infrastructure
along with everything else in this country, under the mantra "government doesn't work".

Well, of course it doesn't with pirates running it!

5. It gets so frustrating ....
I could scream. I didn't see a whole lot of press when we didn't have vaccine for preventable diseases or when the rates of whooping cough in this country shot up-but there sure was a lot of ink covering the run up to Iraq.
