Iran executed 30 for alleged U.S. plots
Source: UPI

TEHRAN, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The Iranian government reportedly executed 30 people during the last month in an attempt to foil an alleged series of U.S.-backed plots in the region.

The Observer newspaper Sunday said 30 people have been hanged by the Tehran government during the last 30 days, mostly in public, as Iranian officials attempt to eradicate resistance throughout the country.

The executions came as the government also began to take action against academics and student activists who allegedly supported U.S.-backed efforts in Iran.

1. Once bitten, twice shy.
That's too bad. But hell, we did it once. A suitcase full of cash, and boom, The Shaw.

5. Huh? You aren't bemoaning the failure of these black ops are you?
Islamic extremism can be traced back to the US actions in Iran against their democratically elected leaders.

WE created terrorism by fucking with Iran in the 70's.

WE created the circumstances that led to the entire region HATING us.

WE created the atmosphere that led to the terror attacks we have suffered by trying time and again to take what isn't ours, instead of paying for it like everyone else.

Those executed were committing treason, and if the US found Iranian provocateurs in our population actively acting against the state, they too should be executed.

We should just learn to mind our own fucking business and work to become energy independent. Everything else is counterproductive and shameful.

7. I know. And I agree.

I just can't say shit the right way.

I had early knowledge of what happened. The father of my first girlfriend delivered the Shaw's babies. I got to hear about what was going on. She even said there were Iranian agents walking around the US keeping the Iranian students in line.

What I meant by "too bad" is that if we hadn't been goofing around in their country (and I'm assuming this), there would be no traitors trying to disrupt Iranian politics. I am guessing we dropped a bunch of cash on people over there, and the next thing they know is they're being executed.

It's all really sick. But it all comes back to us. And I don't just mean Bush. I mean us. But that's another subject.

3. I'd Say the Attempt To Foil Plots Worked
If Cheney would just heed God's call, and die already, the world would be a much better place....

6. Maybe they were kids
(New York, June 20, 2007) – Iran should immediately suspend the use of the death penalty for crimes committed by children under age 18, Human Rights Watch said today. Iran is known to have executed at least 17 juvenile offenders since the beginning of 2004 – eight times more than any other country in the world.

8. Chinese have been arrested in Iran for "taking pictures"
Edited on Sun Aug-19-07 08:53 PM by ohio2007
BEIJING: Nine days before Iran announced it had arrested two Chinese nationals for taking photographs of military and nuclear installations, China’s foreign ministry had already warned its citizens not to photo sensitive subjects.

In a little noticed announcement on its website, the foreign ministry said the Iranian police had detained some Chinese on suspicion of spying because they did “not understand Iran’s national situation”. “They mistakenly photographed sensitive local political, economic and military areas,” it said, without providing details. “The Foreign Ministry’s consular section and the embassy in Iran remind Chinese going to Iran to strictly respect local laws and religious customs,” the statement said.

“Apart from obviously signed tourist areas, don’t take random pictures in the street to avoid creating trouble.” reuters

ok, so we can all agree, Iran isn't as tourist friendly as they come across.
