Ex-CIA Agent on Cheney Iraq Speech: "Longest Statement of Disinformation" Ever Fed U.S. Public
Friday, July 25th, 2003

Vice President Dick Cheney yesterday attempted to restate the administration's case for war at a speech at the conservative think tank the American Enterprise Institute.

Yesterday, Vice President Dick Cheney attempted to restate the administration's case for war at a speech at the conservative think tank the American Enterprise Institute.
He repeatedly cited an October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate that warned Saddam Hussein was seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

"Those charged with the security of this nation could not read such an assessment and pretend that it did not exist. Ignoring such information, or trying to wish it away, would be irresponsible in the extreme," Cheney said. "And our President did not ignore that information--he faced it. He sought to eliminate the threat by peaceful, diplomatic means and, when all else failed, he acted forcefully to remove the danger."

5. Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them.
Did you see the exchange between him and O'Really on BookTV (C-Span) at the end of May?

Here is a link to it:

It is kind of long but well worth it. Franken nails him for misrepresenting his credentials. Tucker was supposed to be there but didn't show. Molly Ivins refereed part of it.

I absolutely love this -- watching O'Really squirm and not be able to cut the mike of the opposition is really entertaining.

11. scrolling tagline
Use the html code <marquee>...</marquee> around the text (of course when you do it you use brackets, not delimiters).

8. Ahhh. Another ex-CIA person speaking out!
Look at his resume:
Melvin Goodman, former CIA and State Department analyst. He is a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy and director of the Center's National Security Project. He is the author of the forthcoming book Bush League Diplomacy: Putting the Nation At Risk (Prometheus). He is a professor of international security studies and chairman of the international relations department at the National War College.

I hope he has tenure--but he's no part-timer. He's dept. chair. And this is the War College. I wonder if he's been on some of the more mainstream media outlets.... If he couldn't get airtime there, I am a little disheartened. But once his book comes out, presumably he'll be interviewed about it.

I'm definitely going to read it.

Thanks for posting this, realFedUp!

9. Too much of a coward to make it to an
audience that wasn't bought and paid for? Do the Bushies ever give speeches even in front of the Veterans of Foreign Wars? These guys are such chickenshits.

10. And what a brave brave man to choose such a venue for his speech!
Yes, far be it from our Noble Vice President to take some easy way out, go up before some easy-to-please ready-made audience of toadies and sycophants where he could say "My turds taste like caviar" and they'd be begging him to shit on their plates. No siree, not a brave man like Dick, who definitely, definitely would have let himself be drafted into Viet Nam if he didn't have other priorities 'n' stuff. Nope, unlike some feeble minded liberal, he went up before... before... well, the American Enterprise Institute. Which as we all know is, well, sort of an easy-to-please ready-made audience of toadies and sycophants where he could say "My turds taste like caviar" and they'd be begging him to shit on their plates. But tough, really tough, as that sort of thing goes.
