They should be worried! NY Times
Some in G.O.P. Express Worry Over ’08 Hopes - NY Times 4/11/07

Republican leaders across the country say they are growing increasingly anxious about their party’s chances of holding the White House, citing public dissatisfaction with President Bush, the political fallout from the war in Iraq and the problems their leading presidential candidates are having generating enthusiasm among conservative voters.

In interviews on Tuesday, the Republicans said they were concerned about signs of despondency among party members and fund-raisers, reflected in polls and the Democratic fund-raising advantage in the first quarter of the year. Many party leaders expressed worry that the party’s presidential candidates faced a tough course without some fundamental shift in the political dynamic.

1. These despondent Republicans ought to take the "long walk"
to the White House and tell George to resign and take his snarling VP with him. Then Pilosi would be in charge and it would be the Democrats' war. Then, if things go badly, it will be the Democrats' fault. Actually, when I started this post I thought I was being sarcasitc, but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes for Republicans.

2. You're right---they're going DOWN! I do not get the sense that
America will pick another 'Pug in '08, no matter who they nominate.

4. I think anyone the Dems nominate will win.
I was at my sister's house and her stupid husband replied "He'll never get elected." to my mother's question regarding Al Gore running again. I wanted to tell him that Elmer Fudd could get elected if he was the Dem nominee.

I keep saying to people, "We KNOW it will be a Democrat in 2008 - the only question now is WHICH ONE."

All of those so-called brilliant GOPers - too dumb to have heeded the oldest warning on earth: "What goes around, comes around."

They did their own party in; now they can't stop whining about it.

3. And they want to use illegal immigration as their ace in the hole!?!
What idiots! And the people who vote for them are idiots too!
Who do they think benefits the most from illegal immigration? It's the business interests, stupid! The financial backbone of the g.o.p. Yeah, illegal immigration as their issue- for the repubs, that would be the proverbial "cutting of the nose to spite the face."
