No Will to Win?
No Will to Win?

By BOB HERBERT

Ready, aim. . . .

The Democratic Party's circular firing squad has assembled. Everybody's angry with everybody else. Joe Lieberman is trying to extricate the knife that, in his view, Al Gore deposited in his back. Al Sharpton is accusing Mr. Gore of engaging in the kind of "bossism" that belongs "in the other party."

The Gore and Clinton families are morphing into the Hatfields and the McCoys. And the runaway Dean machine, which has shown an impressive ability to amass campaign cash and early primary support, is now generating prodigious amounts of fear and loathing as well.

Those cackles of glee you hear in the background are coming from the White House.

Let's keep doing the RNC's work here. If we work hard enough we can destroy all of the candidates and guarantee the chimp an easy win.

C'mon, we can do it!

Dean first, then all of the rest! Let's go!

1. There's going to be a vote, and primary process, period....
discussion is an essential part of that process. Face it, that's the way it works. The issues are going to come out good and bad, and that's how it will be decided.

2. Yeah, I'm Not Too Bothered Yet...
...We have this carping ("Oh, woe is us! Bill Clinton is the death of the party! (1992)") every four (or eight) years. Then there's a nominee, and we all figure out what this whole thing is about.

And every four (or eight) years we have lots of people who forget about the same carping four (or eight) years ago.

3. I think this is a result of the dems trying to be repug lite
for the past 20 years. The base is fired up, and the center is trying to maintain status quo. Hopefully, the base will take back the party and trounce the bush cabal.
