The nature of staying the course
Fish can't fly and birds can't swim
but they can try by god they can try.

Benny lost a hundred grand at blackjack
so to get it back
He threw good money after bad.
He couldn't pay it back and got whacked

Some try to fix a house with fatal mold
Its just throwing good money after bad.
The family never grew old.
They are six feet under and cold.

Cheney threw our kids into the heart of Baghdad.
so we throw good bodies after bad.
Forgive me if your loved one is there.
But no one feels glad.

The pipelines are blown every week
Freedom be damned we've been had
The oil spills like an arterial leak
Stay the course they repeat.

Religion and polititians put on a show
with pride in every mangled corpse
with worse intentions after bad.
The dead and shredded are behind closed doors.

Forget who started it.
We will win this imminent dangerous war.
When every thug is dead, when all the oil is gone
or our mafia thinks with thier head.

Our 10,000 assembly line mini nukes
are advertised as the answer we need.
There is talk of our Constitution
as the enemy of corporate power and greed.

They won't ever speak of remorse
just stay on the God Damned course.
If you don't, they may kill you, its a fact.
Not with the courts but a tribunal patriot act.

We can swim, we can fly and we will fight them.
You need only try.

Gray green over the sea, the clouds are full of eyes.
The trees have recently gone to sleep,
animals fear for their lives.
The winds of December are harsh to remember
for sailors that sail for our heat.
Oily treasures and desperate measures
gamble in risk of defeat.
Its hard to say if the ship of state is spilling blood for oil
or if blood is flooding into our hold
through a hole designed for turmoil.

Stay the course the captain yells hoping to make it to port
In December's freeze there are no guarantees
so he decides to distort the report.
It doesn't manage to repair the damage
or save sailors down below.
The ship's insurance gives him assurance
that profits continue to grow.
At the cost of many lives lost
You would be shocked
to know what he knows.

As December blows we're tucked in our homes
warmed by hearts and hearth.
Desert storms and winds at sea seem distant and far apart.
Its good to remember they all come together
for comforts we all enjoy.
To celebrate a baby boy we give our babies toys
from oil made elastic turned into a plastic.
they are made in China far away.
The true Christ fought against corruption
and the disruption we face today.
