BUZZFLASH: Democratic leaders captive on Bush's fantasy island
Buzzflash nailed this.

The Democrats are still largely sticking to saying they will do a better job with the monsters under to bed and bringing light and sunshine to Iraq without tearing apart the fabric of lies on both.

The threat of terrorism has been used to ram through an unprecedented concentration of power and assault on our rights.

Bush's invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism apart from creating more terrorists, nothing to do with our safety from WMDs, and nothing to do with spreading democracy. It was about Bush giving the country as a present to his cronies the defense industry, rebuilding contractors, and primarily, the OIL companies. The democrats avoiding mentioning oil as the primary motive for invading Iraq even more fastidiously than the Bushies. At least Bush says once in a while we want to protect the oil from terrorist control. The words "want" and "oil" in that sentence are at least true.

Most people by now are doing a pretty good job at guessing the real reasons for the invasion of Iraq. When I asked my community college class why we went in, most said it was just for money.

Democrats are not fooling people by repeating watered down versions of Republican lies. If they told the truth and talked to us like adults instead of retarded children, it would be tough for the GOP to respond since the facts would be on the Dems side.

Instead, the Democrats offer better boogey man insurance, and say maybe we should pull out of Iraq because the Iraqis aren't grateful for the flowers, candy, and sunshine we brought them.

By ignoring the 800-pound guerilla in the room -- the use of terrorism and the Iraq War as a fictional political narrative that uses fear as a political weapon -- the Democrats are basically conceding the 2006 election.

The rallying of even Senate progressives, like Barbara Boxer, to the side of Joe Lieberman -- the Democratic Senator the Republicans chose to speak first in opposition to a Democratic resolution to withdraw troops from Iraq -- shows you how far away from counteracting the Rovian "scare" handbook the Dems are.

And no one can say the Dems haven't seen it before.

By now, what Rove is doing is so transparent, even a donkey could see it coming. Unless that donkey is a Democratic leader on Capitol Hill.

2.  "the Democrats are basically conceding the 2006 election"
another pile of horseshit served up by the "leftist" punditry.

3. Please point me to the quote by a prominent Democrat on why we
invaded Iraq that doesn't mention terrorism, WMD, democracy, or mistakes.

Or any who call bullshit on the war on terror. I would prefer to be wrong about this, but the DLC types seem to be bending over backwards to confirm this thesis, especially those who are rushing to Lieberman's defense.

They won't fight for their constituents, but they will fight for the guy who shits on their constituents (and them). Something is wrong with that picture, and blind happy talk and cheerleading isn't going to fix it, Mr. Shrum.
