Dowd; Live from Baghdad, more dying

Even with constricted coverage, the tally of journalists killed in Iraq is now 71, more than the number killed in Vietnam or World War II. Several teams of doctors have been fighting to save the life, and the legs, of Kimberly Dozier, the CBS correspondent who was hurt by the roadside bomb. The single 39-year-old was a headlong, generous reporter who had spent years covering Iraq and Afghanistan

The administration and some right-wing commentators have blamed the press for not reporting positive news in Iraq. The radio host Laura Ingraham has suggested that the press is 'invested in America's defeat' and has mocked TV journalists for 'reporting from hotel balconies about the latest I.E.D.'s going off.'

snip
'One thing I don't want to hear anymore,' Steve Capus, the president of NBC News, told The Times's Bill Carter, 'is people like Laura Ingraham spewing about us not leaving our balconies in the Green Zone to cover what's really happening in Iraq.'

snip
The administration tries to play down any sense of individual loss; the president has not attended a single funeral, and the government banned pictures of their returning coffins. The Iraqi civilians who die don't even get their names in the small print.

1. It would be nice if people like Capus realized that Ingraham

and her ilk hate real journalists, just like Smirk hates anyone who actually works for a living. One way we can begin to take back this country is if NBC news, for example, would start tracking and reporting on the daily lies from hate radio.

2. And meanwhile, Ingraham's reporting on the invasion from her
NY studio. Another milestone of Chutzpah from the hate radio crowd.

3. And one more thing, MoDo
I'm waiting for an apology for your part in the Gore-bashing that contributed to the WH being handed over to the rich ne'er-do-well. You and some others in your profession (like Steve Chapman) are now admitting that having * as POTUS is a disaster, but none of you have put forth any contrition for helping him into that spot.

4. Good post and I like your blog. It's very creative.
It is so sad what happened to Kimberly Dozier. I want to send her a gift and a get well card asap. I watched her reporting from Baghdad every night and was concerned for her safety. I am also very disillusioned by the insensitivity of people like Inghram and Coulter who have no comprehension of the dangers this war presents. I have no respect for them whatsoever. In fact, if it was in my power to do so, I would send them both (accompanied by Michelle Malkin) on a one way trip to Baghdad, along with the Bush twins and their father and MOTHER. This war is nothing short of an atrocity.
