This is not the way I remember how the health care reform attempt of 1993 was derailed. Writer cavalierly implies the the GOP and AMA were enthusiastically on board for universal health care and the only reason it didn't get done was Clinton's fault. What a joke!

Clinton DID completely blow his shot at healthcare by setting up Hillary (with ZERO experience or credentials) on commission to create some Byzantine "plan" that even people who study public health found hard to understand. It doomed from the very start.

Typical Clinton bullshit- try to please everone- especially the financial powers that be. The very ones who fund your opposition.

Expanding Medicare would have been by far the better answer- and probably would have passed.
