We're not losing anymore (Fox , and RW press)
I saw this today on the Wall St. Journal's "OpinionJournal" site. I thought it was a short editorial, but it goes on forever.
<http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110004245>

(Note: The actual source of the article is the 01 Nov issue of “City Journal”, published quarterly. Go to their site and make up your own mind. <http://www.city-journal.org/>)

There are far too many things to say about the OpinionJournal article, so I’m going to pass. But after reading it, there should be no doubt as to the myth of the “Liberal Media”. Through his boasting, the author pretty much claims the RW media are winning. "The left's near monopoly over the institutions of opinion and information--which long allowed liberal opinion makers to sweep aside ideas and beliefs they disagreed with, as if they were beneath argument--is skidding to a startlingly swift halt. He then goes on to praise Limbaugh, but fails to mention his little..uh..."problem", not to mention Limbaugh's hypocrisy.

One of my favorites: "Too often ideology shapes the tendency to jump to a conclusion - something we try to be aware of in our own case, too."
Ha! I guess he means where Fox was the first channel to declare Bush the winner in the 2000 election. Maybe it had something to do with Fox hiring John Ellis, the president's cousin, to analyze the returns?

What is (hardly) surprising is that there is no mention of the University of Maryland study that demonstrated that those who get their news from Fox ”…are more likely than average to have misperceptions”. They are basically misinformed. The study was announced on the 2nd of October. I would think that would be sufficient time to make a mention of it in this article. No?

What is fun is that this article’s pub date in the "City Journal" is one day after Charlie Reina's public blast at Fox. <http://poynter.org/forum/?id=thememo> Timing is everything. I love it.

BTW, there’s more follow-up on Poynter’s blog about Fox and Reina. Scroll down to Matt Gross’s letter confirming Reina’s posting.
