I’ve always felt impeachment is the nuclear option of politics; a drastic action we call in after all else fails. That’s why I’ve been reluctant to call for the impeachment of President George W. Bush.

No longer. The reckless, arrogant actions of the man leave me with no choice but to consider that final solution.

Time to impeach the son of a bitch.

I don’t come to this conclusion lightly. Impeachment is a divisive process that all too often tears the country apart. Only two Presidents have actually been brought to trial before Congress under the impeachment process: Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Both were impeached more for political dislike than actual crimes against the Constitution...

Bush pushes his agenda - not ours

http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060102/OPINION03/601010332

Ellen Goodman made an excellent case in her Dec. 26 column when she asked, "Who owns Sept. 11?" Obviously the Bush people think they do; even the headline on her column noted: "Bush forgets that 9/11 belongs to us all."

President George W. Bush saw 9/11 differently than the rest of us. Instead of a war against the terrorists who attacked us, we have an endless war in Iraq, pretending we are winning against terrorism there.

We do not have Osama bin Laden in custody; we have Saddam Hussein, the man who wanted President Bush's father killed.

1. Removing Bush is not enough
Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Feith, Perle, and all the Democrats who have backed Bush and the neocon cabal must go too. They must not only go, they must be punished for their crimes, lies, and incompetence.
Paul Craig Roberts has an interesting theory on the real reason for the Bush administration's domestic spying. He thinks that the spying has been on domestic Democratic leaders, to acquire evidence for blackmail, silence, and acquiescence from them. Think about it.... it's just so Karl Rove....

2. you're right, bush* is not enough. we must dismantle the almost-cancerous
infrastructure that allowed bushco* to seize and hold power. we need to ensure that never again will anyone be able to game the election process to seat a despot against the will of the people. This is the Second American Revolution, no doubt about it. Once again tyranny and autocracy threaten. Control of government must return to the people.

4. We'll need a third party to do that. The repub party has to go down.
And a third party has to come up without the radicial right religious nuts fast and first. And the people are going to have to turn off the TV and get involved.

3. Impeachment is what we all need to be focused on for 2006.
Your points are correct, as are the points in the Capital Blue article. The good news is much is being done now- and you can help by spreading the word to those in your circles about becoming involved. Here's where you can find out some of what is being done NOW:

http://www.impeachpac.org/

ImpeachPAC supports Democratic candidates for Congress who support the immediate and simultaneous impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney for their Iraq War lies.

Read more about what you can do now and ways we can all become involved. I don't know about you, but my New Year's Resolution is to get these criminals out of the White House. After we turn over the Senate and Congress in November, we can and will make this happen. But we cannot do this alone! Join the 100's of progressive and Democratic groups and thousands of individuals who are working towards this goal now.
