John Leo is irrelevant
that horrible liberal media publishes my pointless column & indulges my senile rantings - they're picking on bush - blah blah blah. no one is buying it anymore, john. time to retire.

<In a burst of anti-war triumphalism, Harold Meyerson of the Washington Post wrote last week that President Bush and the Bushies have run out of “elitists whom they can demonize.” Hmm. That is a problem. Where will we find the punching bags of tomorrow? Wait! I have it. How about the elite news media? Will they do?

Meyerson celebrated Cindy Sheehan “whose down the line dovishness is more than offset by her standing as the mother of,” etc. etc. Actually, Sheehan was more or less a summer-long anti-Bush media construct, kept aloft by withholding the news that she regards “insurgents” in Iraq as “freedom fighters,” hates her country (America “is not worth dying for”) and thinks Lynne Stewart, the lawyer convicted of aiding terrorists, is a real-life Atticus Finch, the heroic attorney of “To Kill a Mockingbird.” She’s a loony Michael Moore clone, protected by the media’s “bereaved mom” image.

The major papers pulled all of our string with stories, mostly played big on page one, about the 2000th American soldier killed in Iraq. Every military death is a tragedy, but more than 58,000 died in Vietnam and almost 7,000 in a single World War II battle, Iwo Jima, all without front-page anti-war articles posing as compassionate news stories. The modern front-page editorial is easy to find these days. On November 21, the NY Times felt it had to run FOUR, page one photos of Bush trying to exit a Beijing meeting though a locked door. What a doofus! First he doesn’t listen to us, now he doesn’t even know how to leave a room!>

1. He is one sorry piece of humanity
Making a living by being a fucking billboard for conservative ignorance. Barone is no better. A fairly good news mag with cancerous sores in the back.

3. Idiots like Leo....
continually try to compare other conflicts in irrelevant ways to bolster their points. For example, the reason ONLY 2,000 plus Americans have died so far has more to do with medical advances than anything else. (I'm not saying 2,000 is not a low number, only that it would probably be more like 25,000 if not for technological advances.)

These people also try to compare the reasons for war to bolster their points as well. I get so tired of these jerks that do such things.

8. you are probably right
because most of the injuries are head wounds and lost limbs. We have almost 20,000 injured and many in the past would have been fatalities rather than human vegetables.

5. because it IRRITATES me
when i see it under Molly Ivins column in the Seattle Times. on Mondays, we get Ivins, Leo, & Krauthammer.

Then the LTTE's for the remainder of the week accuse the Sea Times of being "liberal".

Why the Blethen family would print his tired recitation of irrelevant points (no one bitched after Iwo Jima) & outright falsehoods (Cindy Sheehan hates this country) is beyond me. Its as if they are daring me to cancel my subscription.

6. What an expert he is at parsing administration statements...
I must give him (grudging) credit for attempting to provide context. We as dems need to be ever vigilant about mis-quoting...

But I'm sure this is the same partisan jack-ass who jumped on the "I invented the internet" band-wagon, and beat the "Kerry is a flip-flopper" drum beat over and over.

Funny how he is able to use his amazing powers of discernment when it comes to GOP talking points, but these powers fail him when it comes to taking Dem statements out of context.
