Yesterday Senator Harry Reid stunned the Republican leadership by showing up to the game. Many Democrats have been waiting 5 years for our leadership to step up to bat. With Senator Reid making a bold, historic move by calling for a closed session of Congress, a fire has been ignited.
Tennessee Republican Senator Bill Frist, who is having his own legal problems, during his brief press conference, never really addressed the issue at hand. He is quoted as stating, "This is an affront to me personally, this is an affront to our leadership. It is an affront to the United States of America, and it is wrong." If one is to look at this statement and dissect it, there could only be one conclusion–denial. According to Republican leader Frist, it is wrong for this country to know the truth about the reasoning for the war in Iraq. It is wrong to complete an investigation that was started over two years ago and it is wrong for the Democratic leadership to demand answers and apparently, it wrong for American’s to learn the truth. The Republican leadership is in denial about what the majority of American’s care about–the truth. It is not just the radical-right Christian jihadists that have morals and values–the majority of Americans want the truth, period. Denying that fact only proves how far out of touch the majority in Congress is with the majority in America. Sidestepping the issues and lying to this nation is unacceptable.
