Ted Kennedy's Senate "Lie after lie" Remarks (and mine)
I posted this yesterday in the Late Breaking News forum, despite a decision I made some time ago to stop posting on this site, because I thought it was really important. But the moderator of that site, Doofus, or something like that, locked the thread and, I guess, deleted it after calling it an "op ed" piece.

To me, it was a lot more than that. A senior United States Senator, brother of a former president, stands on the senate floor and says that the administration of a sitting president has told "lie after lie after lie after lie." This is, to my way of thinking, an historical event.

My question was, will these remarks appear on the evening television news, and, of course, to my knowledge, they did not.

But if those who run this forum think this is just an "op ed piece" and not a major yet unreported news event, so be it. I will put it here for the benefit of who may be interested.

1. They were on the news last night...
Both PBS, and I think CBS, showed Kennedy. Hecame a cross as rather shrill, but hey, he was speaking the truth. No pink-tutu on that boy! Shame the rest of the Dems can't or won't disgard their tutus, and speak with one loud voice .."LIES! LIES! LIES!"

I think that this speech by Kennedy is a historic milestone because it marks and accurately characterizes the second phase of failure in Iraq. It is valuable because it characterizes not only the folly of war and the corruption of this regime, but also the assumptions and aspirations of a thoughtful critic trying to make himself heard in the face of "overwhelming and suffocating power." (C.G. Jung)

Only the logical playing out of this diastrous national drama spiraling out of control will bring an end to the neo con regime. I think that quoting Scowcroft is intended to send a signal to the powers that be that they can and should distance themselves from the crazies running the government now. The powers behind the misadventure can say, we were opposed to this all along. It is also an appeal to the vestiges of the republic, now passed from the scene.
