Marines Try To Recruit 79-Year-Old Woman

Greensboro, NC -- The Marine Corps is always looking for people to join the ranks of "the few, the proud." But one Greensboro woman found a recent recruiting effort a bit surprising.

Apparently the Marine Corps knew the heart of Adella Higenbotham Casler, who says she's more than willing to serve.

"If I can do something for my country, no matter the age, if you're physically and mentally able I want to do my part."

But Casler doesn't know if she could live up to the physical requirements.

Performing hundreds of pushups or running a mile in under 10 minutes would be taxing for a woman who is 79 years old.

5. My Mom got a letter

My first post here:

My Mom received a letter from the Marine recruiters this week. In the seventies she worked as a RN for an American company in the Middle East. The Marines want to recruit her as an linguist, referring to her command of the Arabian language.

Problem is, my Mom died two years ago at the age of 81.

I called the 1800marine number to voice my concern. They are supposed to get back to me. I want to know how her name got on their list.

I REALLY want to know.

9. I got a letter from Navy recruiters, I am 52 and female.

My husband wanted to call the Navy and tell them: trust me, you do not want my wife, she has some attitude problems with the govt. (understatement of a lifetime)
