Dowd writes: "The president won't be happy until..."
WASHINGTON -- The president won't be happy until he dons a yellow slicker and actually takes the place of Anderson Cooper, violently blown about by Rita as he talks into a camera lens lashed with water, hanging onto a mailbox as he's hit by a flying pig in a squall, sucked up by a waterspout in the eye of the storm over the Dry Tortugas.

Then maybe he'll go back to the White House and do his job instead of running down to the Gulf Coast for silly disaster-ops every other day.

There's nothing more pathetic than watching someone who's out of touch feign being in touch. On his fifth pilgrimage of penitence to the devastation he took so long to comprehend, W. desperately tried to show concern.........

1. Way to go Dowd
I'm almost getting to the point where I can forgive her for the hatchet job she did on Gore in 2000. If she keeps bitchslapping bush this way she may be among the 400 or whatever NYT employees slated for layoff.

8. yeah
she could have told the truth about bush before the incompetent SOB was installed into the White House but as I recall, she was more concerned with Gore's earth-tone clothes

3. Thanks for the link. The gloom over ever one's life is finally
falling at Bush's feet.

5. Just an opinion
Here's my dumb theory:

I think there's an unwritten rule in the MSM that they won't slam the Prez or his cabinet until the polls get down to 40%. Then it's a free for all and they come out swinging, because holding their tongue for 5 years was killing them.

6. That only applies to this idiot
When Clinton was at 65% approval rating during impeachment they were piling on.

9. I wonder if she ever feels bad,
or has second thoughts about the part she played
in Bush's rise to power. ?????

10. I doubt it
Maybe she's just a snark addict. She's awfully good at it. Still, I haven't seen any remorse along the lines of "gee, now I get that brown pants aren't as important as the Chimpenstein's quirks."

11. You are probably right...
but she is a smart lady. She has to realize what she did.
Played right into the hands of Rove et al. Ranted and raved about
Clinton's sex life, but now she can see what a real national tragedy is like, not just a made up one.

13. Can't open the link either
The NYT must be serious about charging for access to their editorials. It appears they have found a way to keep it from being accessed if posted to another site.

15. Thank you
I feel ever so much better now that I've read just how much the village idiot we have Prez, didn't learn from Katrina and her aftermath. It's beginning to make the Teapot Dome scandal look like chump change.
