LA Times : Hubris Doesn't Come Cheap
The European Union's announcement that it will give a microscopic 1% of the $20 billion the Bush administration wants for rebuilding Iraq sent a signal as thunderously political as economic: Nations upset by the U.S. invasion won't pay for the aftermath unless Washington changes its tune.

1. It also helps
if you don't call them names, and attempt to do them economic damage as 'punishment' for simply disagreeing with you.

2. foreign policy by jingoistic flagwavers
Oh yes, an overt campaign against the French. American fries. It makes me laugh now. All those jingoistic flag-waving idiots out there, sanctimoniously renaming French fries. Who's laughing now, fools?

And remember the bush dirty tricks department going into overtime, spreading rumors about the French? There were even articles in the Washington Post and NY Times about it. The French ambassador called bushco on it, too.

This article is full of practical ideas for easing the burden on the U.S. taxpayer. The problem is that bushco won't get to control the dispensation of contracts, which is a big part of what this whole thing was about anyway. I live for the day when the squatter is thrown out of the WH and someone with some guts and integrity can deal with this situation on our behalf.
