A theory in the forming: Terror war is a diversion (sees the *Co agenda!)
http://www.jsonline.com/news/editorials/jul05/343038.asp

My mind of late has been entertaining a heresy: that the Bush White House doesn't take its own war on terrorism seriously.

Rather, the war is a sham, concocted to pursue political ends - to wit, a brushback of civil liberties, support for an invasion of Iraq, an increase in Republican representation in Congress and a second term for President Bush.

What got me thinking these forbidden thoughts was news that dirty trickster and White House pooh-bah Karl Rove apparently took part in the outing of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame, evidently as payback for the temerity her husband Joe Wilson, an ex-ambassador, showed in publicly contradicting Bush on a rationale for war against Iraq.

Remember, back then the news brimmed with scary White House tales about imminent mushroom clouds and weapons of mass destruction in the hands of terrorists.

Well, as it happened, such weapons were Plame's specialty. Undercover operatives apparently risked their lives to update her about the netherworld of chemical, biological and atomic weaponry.

Real questions are being asked here!

1. What is "JSOnline"?
When I first read this, I admit I thought it was your own epiphany you were describing, and my reaction was: "Well done! You got there in the end! (But how come it's taken so long?)".

But if JSOnline is anything like mainstream outlet, they should be congratulated for an unommonly rare piece of straight talking about the agenda of the Bush administration.

3. It's the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's online version.
And Greg Stanford is one of the newspaper's best editorial writers.

4. JSOnline is the online edition of the
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - here is their homepage:

http://www.jsonline.com/

on it, it lists their columnists:

JOURNAL SENTINEL COLUMNISTS, COMMENTARY AND REGULAR FEATURES
• Tim Cuprisin
• Duane Dudek
• Whitney Gould
• Michael Hunt
• T. Johnson-Elie
• Eugene Kane
• Patrick McIlheran
• Dennis McCann
• Stanley Miller II
• Mike Nichols
• Bob Riepenhoff
• Spivak & Bice
Gregory Stanford

It shows on their editorial page that Gregorgy Stanford is the Sunday Columnists.

I say:

Well Done to the Journal Sentinel!

You can send a letter to them through their weblink here:

2. These shouldn't be
"forbidden thoughts". It's bleedin' obvious to anyone who's been paying attention.

5. True, but you won't often hear those views expressed in a MSM outlet (n/t)

8. Stanford gets the big 'Duh!' award
... just now catching on to this? I think that's great and everything, but there are those of us who've been saying precisely this from day one and we were labeled conspriacy theorists. :grr:

9. The significant thing is JS is the only Milwaukee paper, it reaches
into neighboring Waukesha Co. one of the strongest bastions of Republican voters in the country. In the 2004 election Waukesha Co had the highest percentage turn out of R's in the country.

The message is being put directly into the enemy's camp.

10. also one of the main reasons for the diversion might be theft
i.e. inflated haliburton type contracts and outright fraud and theft. I gather there are billions missing
