Bush skipping New York 9/11 anniversary memorial
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/breaking_news/story/114710p-103517c.html

President Bush will attend a prayer service of remembrance and observe a moment of silence in Washington to mark the second anniversary of the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001.
While Bush will be in the capital, Vice President Dick Cheney will attend a memorial service at Ground Zero in New York, and Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will take part in a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

Interior Secretary Gale Norton will attend a ceremony at Shanksville, Pa., the site where one of the four terrorist-hijacked planes crashed.

“September 11 is a somber day for remembrance, reflection and prayer,” said presidential spokesman Scott McClellan. He said it also was an occasion for the nation to reaffirm its commitment and resolve in the war against terrorism.

Next Wednesday, on the eve of the anniversary, Bush will have a dinner at the White House and a screening of “Twin Towers,” an Academy Award-winning documentary of the attacks on the World Trade Center towers. The following day he will attend a prayer service at St. John’s Episcopal Church at Lafayette Square, which is frequently attended by presidents. He will be accompanied by the first lady.

3. Why not go to Booker and spend time in the classroom reading
stories? And then hop on AF1 and get lost for 8 hours?

Keep a low profile on 9/11 George...don't want to get people thinking about what really happened that day, right?

5. He is going to Walter Reed to see injured troops
Wonder how those poor guys will feel.

In the afternoon, Bush will go to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, to meet with troops wounded in Iraq.

20. Is that a first?
Has he been to visit the wounded yet? I've read that he hasn't attended one funeral or called one parent of a killed serviceperson. But has he visited the wounded?

6. Everything this "president" does is f***ing political!
I wonder if Cheney will visit with 9/11 survivors when he visits N.Y.? And, for Rumsfeld to lay a wreath at Arlington...well, that is so phoney, disrespectful, and disgusting!

I'm so glad that we're fighting a war against "terror" (our new national pasttime) . But, of course, it's really a fight against "democracy". Didn't ya' know? These idiots just want to get re-elected. That's all!

Wake up America!

13. John DiIulio's letter to Esquire says exactly that
http://www.esquire.com/features/articles/2002/021202_mfe_diiulio_1.html

The former director of the faith based initiatives points out that the political powers in the White House run EVERYTHING. The only thing that discredits this letter (his words) is his praise of W's stemcell decision which is the most triangulated and worthless decision possibly ever made by someone addressed as the President of the United States.

DiIulio was/is right down the middle politically. He thought he could effect change but found out those decisions had already been made.

10. Hah! Good one, Flying_Pig
At the least, he doesn't want to be asked why the White House altered EPA press releases to make the ambient air appear to be pristine the days after 9/11.

16. If he had a conscience....
I'd say this would be a rather grueling, heartwrenching day considering his gross negligence with prior knowledge of the attack. Instead, he'll be saying under his breath "lucky me! I hit the trifecta!"

18. No, he said "a fabulous year"
And I wouldn't be surprised if the prospect of raising money on the corpses of the victims of his corrupt regime gave him enough of a stiffy to put the pork to Pickles that night.

32. "All in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me."
That year would be 2001 -- year of recession, lay-offs, demonstrations against Bush, the terrorist attacks, the war in Afghanistan.

28. Is Bush Smoking More But Enjoying It Less?
To me, Bush has looked a little out of it, lately. Everyone has noted how lost and blank-faced he seemed during the East Coast blackout. I have read insider reports stating that he no longer enjoys the Presidency. He has also visibly aged more than normal during the last few months. This photo (link below) doesn't look like a President returning to work, refreshed from a month-long vacation. A Marine salutes Bush and the expression on his face is "when will then end?". Either that, or he has something in his mouth that he can't bring himself to swallow. Pretzels?

34. shrub will designate the day as "Patriot Day", a KKKarl Rove trick
obviously KKKarl's idea to get the new USAP ATRIOT Act II passed...
what a political scam....USAP ATRIOT Act means "United and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism"...it has NOTHING to to with Patriotism or the newly declared "Patriot Day"....KKKarl decided that shrub's public appearances are looking more and more shameful, Osama and Saddam are still missing...plus shrub is unable to control his drugs/alcohol and must be kept in a more 'private' place....

-snip-

"McClellan, who announced Bush’s schedule, said he also would sign two proclamations, one of them designating September 11 as a national day of prayer and remembrance and another designating the day as Patriot Day."
