(Green & Libertarian) Presidential Candidates To Demand Ohio Recount
David Cobb and Michael Badnarik, the 2004 Green and Libertarian presidential candidates, today announced their joint intent to secure a recount of presidential ballots cast in Ohio.

"Due to widespread reports of irregularities in Ohio's voting process, we are compelled to demand a recount of the Ohio presidential vote," the two candidates said in a joint statement. "Voting is at the heart of the American political process and its integrity must be preserved. When Americans stand in line for hours to exercise their right to vote, they need to know that their votes will be counted fairly and accurately. We are acting to protect the rights of the people of Ohio, and the rights of all Americans. Public trust in the democratic process is at stake."

The candidates also demanded that Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, a Republican who chaired the Ohio Bush campaign, recuse himself from the recount process.

3. Blackwell should just resign
He so obviously favours the Republican party he shouldn't legally be allowed to go near those ballots

...because even if this election does not get overturned we HAVE to do something real about these machines for '06 and '08 or else US "democracy" is history.

11. David Cobb is a great guy.
I've said so before here. I campaigned side by side with him most of one day at the voting place near my house (me for a state rep, him when he was running for a Texas office), and he GETS the issues. He's smart, and not glib or slick like so many candidates.

Kerry lawyers scrutinize voting in Ohio
But campaign says effort isn't aimed at challenging results

The Associated Press
Updated: 11:37 a.m. ET Nov. 11, 2004
CLEVELAND - Lawyers from John Kerry’s presidential campaign are scrutinizing the results of voting in Ohio, but the campaign said the effort is not aimed at changing the outcome of the election.

"While the outcome of the election is not in doubt, no one cares more about voting irregularities than John Kerry and John Edwards,” Kerry campaign spokesman David Wade said in describing what he called a “fact-finding mission” in Ohio. “They remain committed to their pledge that every vote be counted, that's why they built an unprecedented 17,000 lawyer voter protection team to ensure that every American's rights are protected." .........

20. They have $45,000,000 and they can't just spend 110k
and request a damn official recount?

Enough talk...they need to DEMAND a recount, as they have the right to, and stop playing a PR game.

21. This is BLOCKBUSTER NEWS!!!!!!
THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

OHIO is key.

A recount is our GOAL.

The Green & Libertarian party candidates are OFFICIALLY requesting one.

They need 110k.

A RECOUNT in Ohio - WHAT ELSE COULD WE WANT?!?!?

Why isn't DU going balistic with this news?
