Dean in Albany...has NOT decided.
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 10:04 PM by madfloridian
Steve Grossman was a campaign manager who left Dean hanging the day before WI and went to Kerry. Oddly enough, there is an article right after this one on google that says Kerry will return to senate and run for president again in 2008. We need to be careful on this. It could be Grossman/media hype type of stuff. This is in Albany just now, tonight.

SNIp..."When asked about his own political future during a question-and-answer session after his 45-minute speech, Dean said he had not decided whether to pursue the chairmanship of the national Democratic Party or another run for the presidency.

Earlier Monday, Steve Grossman, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said the former Vermont governor had told Grossman that he was considering a bid for the chairmanship.

But Dean said he was uncertain about his future.

"I don't know," he said. "It's a lot easier to run for president when you don't know what you're getting into. I will stay involved, believe me."

Dean also used his appearance to drum up support for his political action committee, Democracy for America, which according to its Web site, supports "fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government."

2. Why can't he be both?
Bush 41 was head of the RNC in the 1970's.

3. Would be a timing problem.

He could not campaign if he were chair. Would have to run in 2012 instead. If he ran.

I really don't care, but I bet the candidates who were looking forward to running with DFA help would.

4. This is what I expected,

thank God.

I still think Grossman purposefully leaked to AP to generate enthusiasm and momentum. Most of the politicians do that. (Pick up the phone! Call the media!)

There's nothing terribly wrong with that--except that it creates a dishonest representation of what's actually going on. ;-)
