U.S. military gear on sale at dangerous Baghdad bazaar
http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=25320

A bazaar in Baghdad’s perilous downtown sells U.S. military uniforms at discount prices.

One shop displayed about 40 U.S. desert camouflage uniforms, along with beige boots, headgear and backpacks. At least one backpack still had an Army and Air Force Exchange Service tag affixed to it.

An entire outfit, boots and backpack included, could be had for about $55 — about half the original cost of legitimate boots alone.

The sales take on a sinister air considering the deaths of about 50 members of the Iraqi National Guard found shot in the head, execution-style, on Oct. 24 some 95 miles east of the capital. The unarmed troops, destined for home leave, had apparently stopped at a checkpoint manned by terrorists dressed as police, officials have said.

3. That's fucking splendid
That's great.

That's just funny - funny like 'ha-ha' or funny like 'wierd'? I'm not sure. both.

I don't know why this situation is getting to me so much, it's pretty trivial compared to, say, the fact that we're blowing up Fallujah right now.

Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!

6. This reminds me, last year Iraqi loot was showing up for sale on Ebay.
Some returning US soldiers were selling 'genuine' rugs from Saddam's palace and other assorted war booty on the internet.

This is sure one fucked up bizarro world we're living in, ain't it?

8. I am reminded of men who impersonate police officers
and manage to kill victims.

Disguise and infiltrate.

"Oh, well," says bush, "Laura, gimme nuther servin' of pretzels, willya? I wanna see what's happenin' in the war and CNN's gots this funny story about Rokkies bein' able to buy US soljers uniferms."

9. Anyone remember the german secret patrols in WWII?

They infiltrated english speaking germans in american uniforms behind the lines during the battle of the bulge. The caused quite a bit of havoc to our men. Quite a few deaths, but more suspicion. Our troops had a real hard time telling them from real.

Remember the movies and the parts about our guys asking all they didn't know personally about who won the world series? Thats where it came from.

Many iraqis speek english. They could terrorize our troops the same way.
