Sarin 'Gulf war syndrome cause'
That's according to the US government, of course. Yes, they're going to blame something else on Saddam. I wouldn't trust them if they told me the sun caused daylight now, but plenty of people in the USA seem willing to suspend disbelief these days:

Gulf war syndrome may have been caused by exposure to the nerve gas sarin, according to reports.
...
But the magazine said researchers have found neural damage consistent with the nerve agent used by Saddam Hussein.

The link is said to have been "crucial" to a change of heart by the US authorities over Gulf war syndrome.

The New York Times newspaper reported last month that US scientists believed the syndrome did exist and was caused by "toxic exposure" but it was not clear whether this was from drugs or nerve agents.

2. Didn't they say that Gulf War Syndrome didn't exist?
Now it does, and it's caused by Sarin?

I thought it was psychosomatic. After all, that's why Four Out Of Five (Military) Doctors said.

Maybe they'll rule that Thalidomide causes birth defects, too. Any day now.

5. Presumably because they'd have to pay compensation/medical
expenses for the troops who suffered from the exposure. Better to let them crawl off into a hole somewhere and die so the money could be spent on more worthwhile things like star wars projects and the like.

9. Because we used it there, most likely.
Some speculate this is why Admiral Crowe "killed himself" by being shot in the chest... he was apparently the Chief who signed off on it, and it may be what the Bushistas keep hanging over Powell.

4. I think there is some evidence to support this
I remember being told a long time ago that Czech troops (working with US troops) had been exposed to Sarin. I think their government has long acknowledged the exposure. I'm sure someone can google this.

10. Our own military destroyed Saddam's Sarin gas-containing bunkers
At the end of Gulf War I, our own military sent special ops deep into Iraq. The famous incident involving sarin warheads at the giant weapons depot at Khamisiyah was finally admitted to by the CIA in 1997. Our own military destroyed these sarin-containing warheads, exposing thousands of US troops in the theater of war to WMD. We gassed our own people. And, furthermore, we knew we had destroyed much of Saddam's WMD but the Bush administration pretended like the destruction of this sarin gas never occurred, and continued asking Saddam to explain where it went. Much of this information is still classified by the US military, but some of it came to light in the mid 1990's investigations into Gulf War Syndrome in the Senate in what became known as the Reigle Report.
