Kerry Camp Seizes on Probe of Halliburton
WASHINGTON - After days of making hay over lost Iraqi explosives, John Kerry (news - web sites)'s campaign is seizing on an expanding FBI (news - web sites) probe of Halliburton Co. as evidence the administration gives "special favors" to special interests. President Bush (news - web sites) received affirmation of his wartime leadership in a very public salute from his former war commander.

~snip~
This late in the game, any miscue is ripe for exploitation, and the Republicans committed a few — in one instance watching former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani explain himself after seeming to blame troops in Iraq (news - web sites) for the missing explosives.

Kerry's running mate quickly went on the offensive when word came out that the FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon (news - web sites) improperly awarded no-bid Iraq reconstruction contracts to Halliburton Co., the Houston-based company formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites).

"At every turn for the past four years, George Bush (news - web sites) and Dick Cheney gave out special favors and looked out for their special interest friends," Sen. John Edwards (news - web sites) said.

Lots of back and forth about both sides, but Rudy's words are going to come back to bite *.

1. It is sad that the Kerry campaign has to be its own news network
Seriously if Kerry, Edwards, and the campaign hadn't pushed some of these stories in the last few days I doubt they would have gotten much coverage.

Bush is having to play defense when they were counting on being aggressive and projecting the "It's OVER!" image. Too bad suckers.

7. Giuliani blamed troops for not finding and securing explosives better
Bushco is trying to say the explosives were gone before we invaded (big lie exposed by 4/18/01 video) but then Giuliani said that the explosives being missing was due to troops not finding and securing them!

8. I love that Bush/Cheney are on the mats defending themselves over this
Their over- the- top rhetoric is going to be even more strident today trying to make Kerry the mean baddie and villain for accusing them of wrongdoing "without knowing the facts". Unfortunately for them, they are the ones who are unwilling and incapable of providing any facts.

I have noticed again and again, that Kerry's accusations and claims always turn out to be substantiated and truthful when the "facts" actually do come out.
