1. Whoa, Jesse looks pretty bad-ass.
But does he help us or hurt us? I'd like to think that he still represents the independent thinker, but he rubbed people the wrong way in Minnesota.

4. He actually rubbed a lot of people the right way.
Had he chosen to run again, I think he would have won against Moe and Pawlenty.

8. Pawlenty sucks
at least with Ventura you knew what was going on, with this stinky Pawlenty the dirt is done but not so visible. I haven't been able to read anything about Pawlenty. Do people like him, think he will be elected again?

17. I hope not!
He is such a slimeball! His latest stupid scheme, to take casino profits, is just another in a long line of repub tricks and is not going over very well. I hope it sinks him. I've watched his smarmy meanness since he was the House Leader and he couldn't make a move without having Sviggum's hand up his butt pulling the strings. Ish!

22. Everyone I know hates him, but the last approval numbers I heard
were in the high 50s. I think that's pretty normal for a politician who lays low most of the time. That was, however before his big push to screw the tribal casinos out of $350 million.

2. Thanks, Jesse!
He seems to cycle between looney and reasonable. I'm glad he found his reason before the election!

9. Is it possible he has a lot of admirers who might otherwise be Repugs?
It's damned decent of him to pitch in here and HELP, for chrissakes!

From the article:
He also criticized Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for leading U.S. soldiers into the war in Iraq, which Ventura said he's opposed from the beginning.

"A true leader should never ask you to do something he's not willing to do himself," Ventura said. "In the case of Bush and Cheney, they're asking you to do something they were not willing to do when it was their turn."
(snip/...)
How could they avoid confronting that truth?

18. I have another theory
He's got a lot of admirers among people who despise the entire political process and wouldn't vote at all otherwise. He won't take any votes away from Shrub, but he will add a few for Kerry, especially in Minnesota.

I didn't agree with every position he took while Governor, but I respect the hell out of him for doing something that's increasingly uncommon in American politics: refusing to blow sunshine up the asses of the voters.

26. I don't necessarily agree with him either, but
He is one of the strongest advocates of third parties this country has. What's cool is that Jesse didn't let his huge ego get in the way of his duty to his country. That's why I still respect him, as opposed to another certain third party twit who I never did like even before his stupid "help Bush get elected" campaign.

10. This is an astounding change.
Not that long ago, he refused to endorse either candidate. Not that many people in MN really take him seriously anymore, but any help we can get is good.

13. He actually said that major parties offered no one to vote for.
And said that he had no one to vote for in response to question about whom he supported. He did not actually say he would not vote, although that was how it was reported at the time. He is clearly voting against Bush, which is predictable given his politics.

He definately tweaked some noses, and I think he will help out in MN. He looks interesting though. The hair looks like he's back to wrastlin'...

Jesse is a moderate/libertarian. He's very similar to Howard Stern on many issues.

19. He'd be a lot more credible
if he hadn't just thrown another tantrum at the reporters covering the announcement last week that he refused to speak at. He should really see about stabilizing his meds because he is too erratic to be taken seriously anymore. I used to be a huge Jesse fan and I miss him.

21. I love Jesse! Another real military hero who served his time
and did his duty.

And HE did it as a Navy Seal. That ain't no "Texas Air National Guard" bullshit.

Jesse has reason, logic, belief in the American system, and openness (that is, no paranoia) on his side.

He is what he is.

Unlike Shrub, who says he is what he is, but he thinks he's something other than what he is. What he IS is an evil idiot fuckknob; what hte thinks he is is a fairminded, "resolute" Christian.

27. Bush lives vicariously through our soldiers.
I agree. Ventura is one of those people whom even though I don't agree with on everything (who agrees with a politician 100% on all issues except "loyal" freepy Rethug scums?), I like a lot. He is open about who he is and his agendas. Bush didn't reveal his crap until AFTER he was sworn in. And as for the war in iraq, exactly because dick and bush were such wimps back then, they are now making up for it by sending our youths to war.

He knows (everyone knows whether they want to admit it or not) that W is a miserable failure.

30. His logic jives w/ mine. This is a great an powerful quote.
"A true leader should never ask you to do something he's not willing to do himself," Ventura said. "In the case of Bush and Cheney, they're asking you to do something they were not willing to do when it was their turn."
