Pakistan plans buying F-16s: Report

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan is contemplating to buy one squadron of Mirage aircraft from a West Asian country and two squadrons of F-16 fighter jets from Belgium, the Dawn reported on Saturday.

A meeting was held here in this regard on Friday. President Pervez Musharraf presided over the meeting, attended by all services chiefs, apart form defence secretary Lt Gen (retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan.

According to the report, Pakistan is vying with India for the purchase of one squadron of the latest Mirage aircraft, which the unnamed West Asian country had acquired from France, but now wanted to sell them.
