The magnitude-7.0 quake’s epicentre was under the ocean about 70 miles east of Taiwan’s east coast harbour town of Su’ao, the Central Weather Bureau said. No immediate information about damage or casualties was available.

As I recall, the 1999 quake caused enough damage to raise computer RAM prices for well over a year.
