16. The reason why they didn't do that
was because the Kurds caught Saddam and then stuck him on the US alive. The Kurds staged the whole hidey hole thing and their were too many people around for the US troops to off him. That's what happens when you outsource.

bought the farm from a frag being tossed into their hole.

My grandfather and father used the frag grenade as a clearing device in two wars. I assume it is still sop to frag a closed space before entering...

The guy is a slime, if he bought the farm what difference does it make.

At least the lame conspiracy theories would never start. Lobotomy, face transplants, etc..

26. Conversely
According to other mythologies many a "Gung ho" (not to be confused with "Go hung") officer in Vietnam and other places got themselves "Fragged" too.

I think it is a sad thing to happen in either case (if true). I would not do it, would not condone it, and I would not serve in the military alongside somebody that might be inclined to do so.

I guess.

No not guess. I surly would not.

34. I don't understand your post
They were military I am not. However my understanding from their accounts and reading is that using a fragmentation grenade to clear a room was sop in Europe, and the Pacific. They were used in Vietnam to clear closed spaces like bunkers, holes, etc. My father was there early in the war and was not an officer, the airborne units did not have the problems in 68 - 69 that some units did. He was an NCO and from his account had more experience than his CO.

I'm not saying he should have been knowingly killed, but that if they followed procedure, toss a grenade in a bunker before entering, things may have been different.

I thought perhaps you had not been in the military. I do not doubt the stories you have heard. I have heard similar tales from and about Korea and WW2. But I have no first hand knowledge.

And since I am a pacifist I do hope even our enemies when helpless against us are treated with human dignity as required by the Geneva Conventions, because perhaps one day it may be you or me or our loved ones hiding helpless in a hole in the ground and I hope that they be treated the same.

Don't you?

Don’t you think transparency in the judicial process would accomplish the same thing even better?

You act like these “theories” are really a problem when after all they don’t really mean anything at all. Just people talking about ideas. Why is putting a stop to that your highest priority? Seems rather trivial does it not?

You're still not making any sense. I'm not blowing up any recruiting stations because I don't believe in violence against anybody. You, obviously, are; yet you send other people to do your dirty work, so you don't have to take any risks. I'll ask again, why would you be willing to sign up for the marines to satisfy a dumb bet, but you're not willing to sign up because they need you?

45. Well, you just said up thread...
That you wanted troops to put themselves at risk and do your dirty work for you, but you're unwilling to take any risk yourself.

Ask anybody, if you're going to support a war, then you have to be willing to fight it yourself.

Ancient Greeks? The ancient Greeks weren't hypocrites (no pun intended). They recognized that if you were going to support a war, you should be willing to sacrifice.

"I'm not going to join the marines"

Obviously. That's why you're a chickenhawk.

66. Actually, I'm an organic chemist, thanks anyway.
Personally, I think its rather cute when amateurs like to make themselves look smart by talking chemistry, but that's besides the point.

"It all stemms from weird's inability to follow a simple statement. Thought != (that means not equal, not factorial) action."

Actually, it stems from your inability to realize that if somebody is going to support the war, they should be willing to enlist. This is a pretty simple concept that almost all intelligent people will agree with, even those who are guilty of chickenhawkery. You've been completely unable to refute this idea, instead you fly off the handle and make bad analogies like "people who support abortion should all go out and have abortions" or just post nonsense like "thought! = action"

I've always thought it was a little weird that people would fall back on weird, nonsensical equations or statements like that and think they're making a point. I guess it's the kind of person who randomly posts recipes for Tim McVeigh style bombs. (all the while complaining about threadjacking). I'll ignore how you advocated terrorism against the United States.

Ever been in a militia or something?

Your joke was not really very funny and came across as very serious. I would say judging from your other posts you tend to think violence is a viable solution for most problems.

I doubt that you would be in the loop if Saddam gave up anything important and oddly enough given he is under Bush administrations control I would not hold my breath waiting on details Saddam may have to share about how all this stuff happened in the first place.

I am curious.

Oh you’re welcome for the counseling. You seem to be a little more calm now.

60. You are correct
I would have no idea if he did. MSM has said repeatedly he hasn't but that is really worthless.

Now I could personally care less if he dies a violent death. That does not make me violent, that makes me callous in regards to Saddam.

Your judgment is wrong. Violence has a place, but the solution used depends on the problem.

I'm usually quite polite, I just despise weird.
