Bush Warned of Likelihood of Insurgency before invasion!
I have no link, but CNN just reported that two briefing memos have surfaced, that were provided to Bush two months before the U.S. invaded Iraq. The memos warned that a war in Iraq would trigger an insurgency fueled by Saddam Loyalists, who would be joined by terrorists.

Yet anoth lie to the american people -- our forces would be welcomed and greeted as liberators!

1. Another CIA leak
got to love the timing.

I heard a rumor from DC that Goss is going apeshit over this stuff and his hand-picked aides are getting the major league run-around from the pros there. Rove has been demanding that Goss shut up his troops, or else.

I couldn't ask what the "or else" stood for.

My question is, what is a White House political operative doing instructing the CIA director to keep his people quiet?

7. Porter Goss, previously a deviant GOP congressman
from Florida, one of the biggest supporters of the neocon agenda.

He was a former CIA agent in a past life, and knows about things intel-oriented.

He was just confirmed to replace George Tenet as CIA director. There were many rumblings and mimblings from the masses, given his political tilt. He has his hands full with the very many unhappy pros populating the CIA.

12. Could you PLEASE
try to get a link?

We are trying to discourage the announcing of news items from television shows without a link. So many times, these stories are no longer "breaking" after a few hours. Also another poster will come along with a newspaper link, and they have to be locked as duplicates.

This sounds really interesting, so I'll leave it for now.

Thanks for helping us out!

I found buried in CNN. It's dated 9/29/04, but like I said, it was just broadcast on CNN this morning -- and not as a lead story!

Prewar intel predicted insurgency
From David Ensor
CNN National Security Correspondent
Wednesday, September 29, 2004 Posted: 4:45 AM EDT (0845 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two classified reports prepared for President Bush two months before the Iraq invasion warned the war could prompt an insurgency in which rogue elements from Saddam Hussein's government would work with existing terrorist groups, sources said.

The January 2003 reports from the National Intelligence Council (NIC) said an invasion would increase support for hard-line politicized Islam and result in a divided Iraqi society prone to violent conflict, the sources said Tuesday.

Disclosure of the reports just weeks before the presidential election could create political problems for the White House. The reports were prepared by the same unit that prepared a gloomy national intelligence estimate in July about prospects for Iraq. . . .

15. Sorry. I didn't mean to belittle your post or to suggest it wasn't LBN
I'm just annoyed that the media is now saying things like "whoops" 'there was secret knowledge that we might have a teeny bit of trouble in Iraq if we attempt to occupy them."

Please forgive

:hi:

16. I didn't take exception.

I would have thought the news merited front page treatment on CNN's website. I did a double take when I heard it mentioned on CNN, half way through a newscast, after a segment on Lance Armstrong's cross-country bicycle ride. Go figure!

20. This is why ugent announcements from t.v. shows are a problem
This is a duplicate of this story:

It is an important story and no one blames you for rushing here to post it. It's probably good, in the future, to avoid posting from things you hear on the t.v. before a link is found.
