WP- Top Air Force Lawyer Steps Aside (Rumsfeld critic exposed in scandal)
The top lawyer in the Air Force has temporarily given up his job after coming under investigation for allegedly having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female subordinate and perhaps with other women, Pentagon officials said yesterday.

Maj. Gen. Thomas J. Fiscus, the Air Force's judge advocate general, asked last week to be relieved of his duties while the investigation is pending, according to a memorandum sent Monday to all Air Force lawyers.
.........
In December 2002, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld approved the use of harsh interrogation techniques against suspected al Qaeda and Taliban fighters held prisoner at the Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. But military interrogators at Guantanamo complained to superior officers that techniques they were asked to use, such as stripping prisoners to humiliate them and using dogs to scare them, were abusive. That provoked an extended Defense Department review, during which military lawyers for each of the services forcefully expressed their concerns, officials said.

After an intense bureaucratic struggle, the lawyers, including Fiscus, persuaded Rumsfeld to rescind his approval of those interrogation procedures.

"The timing of it is certainly suspect, given office's opposing OSD on detainee issues," Sheldon said.

several were 'let go' because of sexual scandals

before Iraq war, didn't some independent admiral lose a ship and get fired similarly?

11. Remember, though, Hitler was in power from 1934 until 1945...
...11 long years highlighted by the deaths and misery of millions upon millions of people.

What was the eventual worldwide cost in lives attributable to the actions of the Third Reich before Hitler put a bullet in his brain? 50 million? 60 million? The civilian and military losses in the old USSR rose to nearly 40 million just by themselves.

Let's hope the Fourth Reich can be nipped in the bud in November...otherwise, we've got a long rocky road ahead of us.

9. You know, they (bush* & co) screwed with the CIA and blamed them
for all their failures and screwups, and not the CIA is dropping some big bombs about the incompetence and dishonesty of this administration. Wonder if the Armed Forces head honchos will do the same?

No one likes rumsfeld, at least not the professional military. He may get the big payback one of these days. One can only hope sooner than later.
