Former President Bush Defends Son
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 10:26 PM by party_line
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Former President Bush (news - web sites) on Wednesday defended the Iraq (news - web sites) war and swiped at Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (news - web sites), saying most people are grateful that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) is out of power.

"Do you think it was better the way it was before the United States forces liberated Iraq and took Saddam prisoner?" Bush asked a group of business people.
...........
"I bring you greetings," Bush told the crowd. "My first greetings are from Dan Rather," he said, drawing light cheers and scattered boos at the mention of the CBS News anchor's name.

He tried again — "I bring you greetings from Michael Moore," inciting even more boos.

The third greeting, from Barbara Bush, prompted an eruption of applause.

Bush said the president is not one for posturing or complaining during difficult times.

"I never heard him whine once bout the difficult job he's got," the former president said. "He just gets on about his business. He calls his shots as he sees them. If he makes a mistake, fine. But the American people know where he stands."

*I recommend the whole article- the Kerry campaign sent him a response letter from wives and moms of deployed troops.

Hey, Poppy, why the fuck didn't you just set the useless dingleberry up in a rancho someplace with an annuity and all the fucking Lone Star he could ever want, and spare us?

Oh, I get it, this is your REVENGE for not re-electing you, isn't it?

How many points does Kerry need to take Florida by to end the Jebster's political career?

I say any victory at all will do the trick.

8. Bush, Sr. is a decrepit old fogey...U2 exposed him long ago
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 10:32 PM by Roland99
I still remember how U2 would phone the White House each night from their Zoo TV and Outside Broadcast tours to try and talk to ol' Bush. Of course, they never got to.

Bush mentioned it in a brief questioning once, saying,

"The rock grop...the rock group, U2, phone me every night. <blah> <blah>"

So, I guess Bush, Jr. gets his verbal foibles honestly! :)

Posturing? What the h do you think his brush-cutting cuteness is? The ranchless ranch? Or the carrier stunt ? Plastic turkeys in Iraq? Or any of the bogus backgrounds that accompany every appearance? Poppy, you need to get it through your head that the rest of the country isn't as stupid as that little scion of yours.

22. The obvious answer to this question...
"Do you think it was better the way it was before the United States forces liberated Iraq and took Saddam prisoner?"

is YES...YES I DO. There would be 1040 US soldiers still alive. There would be 20000 less wounded and maimed US soldiers. There would be between 20,0000 and 30,000 innocent Iraqis still alive. There would be 100000 less wounded and maimed innocent Iraqis. There would not be hostages being beheaded on videos for sale on the streets of Baghdad. There would not be huge urban areas where anti American groups can gather and attack our under protected soldiers. There would be UN inspectors keeping an eye on Saddam as they were before bush chased them out with smart bombs.

Yes you dumb fuck...it would be a lot better.

Her Mother always yelled at us for picking on her poor little girl. In most cases, it was the "poor little girl" who instigated whatever the problem was.

The taunt became something along the lines of "you need your mother to fight your battles".

Wonder why I'm having this flashback to my childhood? :eyes:

What type of family dynamic is that? He spends all his time bailing out, excusing, and defending his colossel fuckup of a child. We call that enabling... As I recall it, George Bush Snr was pretty grateful that Saddam was in power throughout his time as Vice President and the first year of his presidency

Although I guess Dick Cheney is grateful Saddam is no longer in power because Haliburton gets even more contracts now than when he was doing deals with Saddam

54. First off, you phony bastard of a politician,
YOU made Saddam Hussein the menace of the Middle East that he became. Your administration and Reagan's approved dozens of licenses, via the Dept. of Commerce, for the sale of weapons technology to Saddam prior to Gulf War I. Second, you misled the Iraqi people into slaughter during Gulf War I by doing everything short of overthrowing Saddam, then telling the Shiites to finish the job and we'll back you. We didn't, and Saddam slaughtered them like lambs in a fan tunnel. Those mass graves that we bemoan in Iraq were largely the result of this.

Wednesday, HW Bush spoke in Columbus and pissed and moaned to reporters over the rough treatment his boy-blunder has received from the media. Cry me a river, Mr. Carlyle Group. Cry me another river, Mr. Iran Contra.

Geez. Somebody get that dufus out of the public speaking circuit.

Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 07:59 PM by MagickMuffin
Afraid President Kerry won't be funding quite as many defense contracts, so you and the Carlyle Group won't get those benefits because he will use diplomacy instead of force. If it wasn't for your war profiteering schemes Iraq would not have been in that kind of trouble in the first place.

You put Saddam in power, Manual Noriega, etc. etc.

You are quite happy with your propped up governments until they decide they don't need you anymore.

At that point you don't just get mad, you get even.
