Da Vinci painting stolen from Scottish castle

Thieves have stolen a painting by Leonardo Da Vinci from a private collection in Scotland.

A spokeswoman for Dumfries and Galloway police said the painting, the "Madonna of the Yarnwinder", was taken from Drumlanrig castle at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

I am half-way through a great best-seller; The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. A fabulous read -- one of those can't-put-it-down novels. A hot summer read for the beach, or wherever.

At any rate, to the thousands of readers who have enjoyed this book over the last year or so, the theft of this DaVinci painting may well be seen as just the next twist in a vast conspiracy that is ages old.

Hope to finish the book tomorrow on a long train ride out to Flagstaff. Good stuff.

2. Phew! What a relief! For a minute I thought I heard a radio story

about Madonna and a Sidewinder! Then I realised old Leonardo probably didn't paint any ballistic missiles in his pics - too busy to wander off message, I guess. And thank goodness Material Girl wasn't involved in this number either! Yarnwinder sounds suspiciously like spindoctor, in these troubled days of missing WMDs. Perhaps this is really a 'parallel universe story'???
