Bill Clinton awaits heart surgery next week
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 11:34 AM by onehandle
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Former President Bill Clinton said he feels "a little scared, but not much" as he waits to undergo heart bypass surgery scheduled for early next week.

Clinton was in New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Friday after complaining the previous day about chest pain and shortness of breath.

Surgery is expected next week, but no further details were available.

He called in to CNN's "Larry King Live" from the hospital.

Clinton seemed to be in good spirits as he joked with King.

"Let me just say this, Republicans aren't the only people who want four more years here," Clinton said

2. Standard procedure for non emergency cases
Surgeons keep the weekends clear for R&R, although they may e called in if an emergency case comes through the door.

My guess has always been that they'll wait until Monday or Tuesday.

5. they also reported yesterday
that he was put on Plavix a few days ago. They don't like to perform surgery on people using Plavix because of the bleeding risk, so they may have taken him off it and need to wait a few days for it to leave his system.

3. You know the wing-nuts are going to say the Clinton surgery
is some king of conspiracy so Hillary can run in 2008. And the media whores will cover this 24/7 instead of the campaign, then blame Clinton for taking the spotlight off of Kerry.

8. I wish everyone got this kind of medical care.
I look forward to Clinton appearing on the Letterman Show and seeing Bill and Dave compare the size of their chest incisions. :silly:
