CODEPINK Protester ejected from RNC during Bush speech (Friend of mine!)
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 04:44 PM by Pachamama

CODEPINK ejected from RNC during Bush speech

Father whose son was killed in Iraq and others also dragged out.

As George W. Bush gave his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, Jodie Evans of CODEPINK: Women for Peace revealed a pink slip underneath her dress which read, “Fire Bush! Women Say Bring the Troops Home Now!” She was dragged out of the RNC. Earlier in the evening, Jorge Medina, whose son was killed in the Iraq war, was ejected from the convention for wearing a t-shirt with his son’s photo on it and the words, “Bush Lied, My Son Died.” Two other anti-war activists were also dragged out of the convention. One of their banners read, “Bush Lied, People Died.” Another read, “Strong but Wrong.” This is the third night in a row that CODEPINK activists have brought anti-war messages inside the RNC during prime-time speeches. .

7. What are you talking about? There are Bu$h/FUCheney Protesters almost
daily at the Kerry rallies? (Oh, but do you go to those?)

The big difference between the Kerry/Edwards rallies is that its open to the public...Kerry is really good at ignoring them or even asking them questions....Bu$h/FUCHeney rallies require people to sign a pledge to them and they screen people and wisk them away if they even say a thing....

Wrong CryingShame....what side are you on? You planning on voting for Bush? :eyes:

This was the REPUBLICAN national convention.

For the REPUBLICAN delegates.

It was NOT open to the "public" any more than the DNC was open to Repbulicans.

Anyone who says that they wouldn't be squealing like a stuck pig if a freeper disrupted Kerry's Acceptance Speech at the DNC is full of Sh*t.

Who the hell are YOU to question what side I'm on because your stupid friend decides to make a spectacle of herself?

19. Oh! I forgot!Only right wing Repuke Media is only allowed to attend RNC!
Which ofcourse explains why they were sooooo upset about Michael Moore being there! Ha ha ha ha...

But then, how do you explain that all the Right Wing Media Pukes were at the DNC in Boston....Hmmmmmm....Could it be "Freedom of the Press?"

I wonder.....

And for your information, I've been at some Kerry rally's with Freepers, and unlike Republican's we actually just drown them out with our kindness, not our hate....

Oh, and who the hell am I? I'M PACHAMAMA, PROUD LIBERAL BAD ASS BAD BABE AND MOMMY OF TWO PACHABABIES, WHO DOESN'T LIKE FASCIST FREEPERS WHO PERMEATE THE DU PRETENDING THAT THEY SUPPORT FREETHINKING AND DEMOCRACY! :hi:

Unlike Moore, your friend did not have press credentials. If someone without credentials had made it into the DNC and did that, all cryingshame is saying is that DUer would have flipped out. I know I would have.

36. Wrong on three counts....Post Count, Press Credentials and DNC disruption
Count I)
Post Count on the DU has absolutely no reflection of judging "What side someone is on".....DU has had lurking Freepers and infiltrators of the dark side for a very long time....They are really good at posting non chalant postings, ask a lot of questions (usually post breaking news, or post a question) and then occasionally they jump in to go for the jugular of a DUer on an issue (or bring up something contraversial and then play dumb).

Count II)
Jodie actually did have Press Credentials, which is why she was sitting in the press section so close up. Nina Utne of the Utne Report and several other journals etc. that Jodie writes for provided her credentials.

Count III)
If a Freeper had done something similar (ie. yelling Flip Flop or questioning Kerry's Purple Heart) while Kerry spoke at the convention, Kerry would have done probably one of the following a) ignored him and kept talking without flubbing like Smirky when his mojo got bumped: or b) looked at the protester, stop and pause look at the camera and the protester and address the attack and emphasize freedom of speech and the spin it in to his speech. I choose option (b)....

Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 06:29 PM by cryingshame
just how irrational your attempt at an "argument" is.

That she had press credentials is meaningless because her actions had NOTHING to do with reporting. Now did it.

And you are the first "person" to call me a freeper... let alone a fascist one. :D

Congratulations. :toast:

47. Foolish Friend? Stupid Friend? Irrational Argument? Meaningless Reporting?
Yes, I am calling you out for what your posts indicate you are....Do you deny it? Do you think that your post was meant to support or infuriate? You can disagree with something or someone because you have concerns of the aftermath, but to imply that they were stupid and call her actions such, doesn't show me that your too "democratic" and seem almost sympathetic to the Chimp.

Her press credentials weren't "meaningless"....Jodie is an author and even produced films. She has written for the UTNE Report (you are familiar with who Nina Utne is, right?) :eyes:

http://www.utne.com/pub/

Wait till you see her next "Report" - it'll be a good one....you can cringe and shout about her "meaningless report"...

60. 1st off - THEY HAVE DONE IT TO KERRY - and he's handled it graciously
and NOBODY was ever ejected or otherwise forced to leave a Kerry rally.

There is NO comparison!

Only the REPUKES make you sign loyalty oaths, close their meetings to the public, and have selected invitation only events with prescreened and pre-approved statements.

Kerry and the Democratic Party do no such thing.

But thanks for playing the repuke lying game!

55. Did this woman disrupt anything?
She wore a pink slip with a message to Bush. As far as I can tell she did nothing violent. She was bare-foot, for goodness sakes!

Since when does wearing a shirt or a slip with a message on it constitute violent protest or disruption?

There were pro-Bush people at the DNC. I saw them on TV. The difference is that they weren't arrested and hustled away. They were tolerated.

It's not like the rest of the people in the convention sat quietly. They were pretty damn noisy. So, she said something they didn't want to hear ... this is America, still. We are allowed to voice our opinion.

She was in the convention legally. She was no more noisy than the others. She spoke her mind, just like the others.

She broke no laws.

Except for the GOP law of blind obedience.

I joined Code Pink quite some time ago.

46. Don't these ladies show you...
that "balls" are not an accurate symbol for courage?

These ladies have real ovaries doesn't cut it either though.

How about these ladies have real guts. Balls have nothing to do with courage.

Balls have nothing to do with courage.

Ovaries have nothing to do with courage.

Guts have nothing to do with courage.

It's all about the noggin.

56. technically, it is in the gut
His thirty years of research have led to an extraordinary rediscovery: nerve cells in the gut that act as a brain.

58. Now that's pretty cool -- but brains in the gut are not themselves guts...
'course that may be splitting hairs. ;)
I wonder how this is different from the autonomic nervous system.

59. Cartesian ass-mind duality
I suppose the "enteric nervous system" is a subset of the autonomic, distinguished mainly by geography and specialization. According to this primer for kids it's an ontogenic throwback to invertebrate brains, before advances in spine and skull permitted high-bandwidth cognition like "should I vomit?"

64. Bush/Cheney signs were behind the press box at the DNC convention.
Why weren't they arrested? I had to change the channel to avoid high blood pressure. Was it MSNBC or CNN or Both? I vowed against Meet the Press after the incident. I think it was MSNBC... They are sooooooo EVIL!!

These ladies have what the French call a certain, I don't know what. I believe these disruptions, however unprecidented are necissary. By infiltrating the RNC these protesters are accomplishing what thousands of protesters outside could not do, they are making the Right leaning Media acknowledge their existence.

By spontainiously showing up on Live national Television and causing a stir, they are letting the American Public know that there are protesters! Pre-9/11 Post-9/11 Pre-Iraq War - to now can you honestly tell me that the American Media Machine has done an adaquate job of covering the voices of dissent in this country. Before the Iraq invasion there were memos handed down from the top telling the News Department not to air footage of protest because, to paraphrase, our veiwers don't want to see that sort of thing. Since When is the News about showing people only what they want to see?

This gave a large portion of Americans the impression that the entire population of the U.S. was in strong support of the war, when it was more like 50/50. Had more people known how strongly divded the country was, more people might have spoken up about it. Our representatives might have been more receptive to the notion that we shouldn't rush into things.

Doesn't help that whenever somebody did air footage of protestors, they didn't show the buisness suit clad lawyers, or toddler toting soccer moms, no... they got the really, well "extreme" looking ones on TV. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys, but the mainstream media used that footage to create the impression that anti-war protesters were part of some small fringe group.

Then there are the "Free Speech Zones"... Oh, don't even get me fucking started.

(P.S.) I Love the duality of the "Fire Bush" Pink Slip. You get a Pink Slip when you get fired!
