On Eve of House & Senate Hearings into U.S. Detention & Interrogation Practices, Retired Generals & Admirals to Call for Truly Independent Probe into Torture

Retired military leaders to call for a comprehensive, independent commission to investigate U.S. detention and interrogation practices. Briefing is one day before hearings by the House and Senate Armed Services Committees into U.S. detention and interrogation practices. The briefing will include:

Release of letter to President Bush from eight retired generals and admirals calling for an independent and comprehensive investigation into abuses of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and other U.S.-operated detention facilities.

Release of Human Rights First's new "Known Unknowns" report outlining the major gaps in the military investigations to date.

WHO: Admiral John D. Hutson (Ret. USN). Rear Admiral John D. Hutson served as the Navy's Judge Advocate General from 1997 to 2000.

4. It might be too late..
The military rushed into prosecution to try an dget this behind them before the election.. The independent inquiry would need to talk to the soldiers involved, and probably part if their sentence-plea was to STFU , or they would get harsher sentences..:shrug:
