CEBU airline opts for Airbus, not Boeing

Tuesday, August 31, 2004 - Philippines-based airline CEBU Pacific Airways has opted to purchase 12 new Airbus 319 jets for its fleet, according to reports from a Manila news organization.

The Boeing Co. had been in talks with CEBU in the hopes it could sell Boeing 717 passenger planes to the airline but those negotiations broke down earlier in the year when CEBU said it wanted a larger long-range jet so it could extend its market to Tokyo and Beijing, a Boeing spokesman said.
