GOP to use convention attention to keep pressure on McGreevey
TRENTON, N.J.(AP) _ New Jersey's GOP leaders plan to use the intense spotlight of the Republican National Convention to further their fight to force Gov. James E. McGreevey out of office.

Republicans have already aired radio and television commercials and staged demonstrations, arguing that McGreevey's decision to remain governor until Nov. 15 unfairly denies voters the chance to choose his successor. Instead, the Senate president, also a Democrat, is to take McGreevey's place.

Now GOP officials are hoping national media attention in neighboring New York will keep pressure on the governor.

"There will be two hot topics of conversation, one of the most important elections in my lifetime and, undoubtedly, a lot of talk about this spectacle New Jersey has been living through," said state GOP Chairman Joseph Kyrillos. "It's an embarrassment to the state and it's an embarrassment that all of America is watching."

1. Nobody cares
Jim McGreevey is the governor of New Jersey until Nov. 15 and there really isn't anything anybody can do about that no matter how much the NJ Republicans squawk.

4. Are they aware that McGreevey's approval ratings have gone UP?
And do they expect me to believe they'd be doing this is McGreevey were a Republican?

9. Typical republicans...
the world can be coming to an abrupt end and these people are worried about what goes on in some democrats bedroom. Meanwhile their coward leader lies, misleads and dresses up as people he is not. The bush coward must be exposed for what he is.

5. I wish someone would out Dreier
I live in his district and it seems to be common knowledge that he's gay. How has he managed to escape being outed?! The only time I've seen any reference to it recently was when

I'm not a big advocate of outing people, but in Dreier's case, he is such a hypocrite, he deserves it.

8. The NJ Repukes are...
a bunch of bumblin', stumblin', fumblin idiots who couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery. The reason the McGreevey story was forced out was the cellphone activity that took place from the repuke side of the NJ Senate. It was so heavy that birds were falling from the air of Trenton, fully cooked. They got this information from US Attorney Chris Christie. Christie was chosen as US Attorney because he was a big contributor who would go after McGreevey. Others, far more qualified, turned the job down because they would not use the office for political character assassination. Christie is a forme one-term Morris County Freeholder who lost big in re-election race, former tax lawyer, repuke fund raiser. Many lawyers, here in NJ, find the concept of Christie scary.

Christie makes no bones that he wants to run for Governor.

10. Umm, once someone has resigned, it's pretty delusional to think
you can 'force him out of office', lol.
