Rheingold ad battle brewing-Says new campaign isn't anti-GOP
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/226289p-194116c.html

Rheingold has gotten itself into a first-class brew-ha-ha.
The Brooklyn-based brewery with a hankering for an edgy image, wants to welcome Republicans this weekend with a profane new ad campaign that has tempers boiling over.

Rheingold planned to launch a series of controversial billboards - one portraying three men sitting on a city stoop, greeting GOP visitors with a one-finger salute above the words "Here's to a great convention."

Another shows a female hand spanking an underwear-clad man, while a third has a party-goer sporting a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "Orange Alert."

1. hahahahahah
My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer.
Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer.

I wish I could get some here in Oaktown.

2. LOL! Back in my day as a child, it was "Miss Rheingold"
prominently displayed in the Mets Yearbook.....

I didn't realize Rheingold was even still in business....

"My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer"---wasn't that the jingle way back in the early 60's?

3. It wasn't in business
Rheingold did disappear in the 1980s; by then it was pretty watered down and a shadow of its former self. It was revived a few years ago with, supposedly, an early recipe; priced like a microbrew, but very, very good. It was contract-brewed in Utica, IIRC, but hard to get outside the immediate New York region.

This is sweet.

I used to get pissed off when I lived in Albany; I'd give my roommate $6 to get a six pack of Pete's and he'd come back with a case of Rheingold. Ick.
