Republicans to Wear Flip-Flops in NYC
By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writer

The Keystone State's 75-member delegation will be sporting thong sandals — adorned with Kerry's face — at the Republican National Convention, which opens Monday in New York. Pittsburgh businessman Jason Piccola dreamed up the shoes while listening to conservative radio hosts accuse the Democrat of shifting political positions.

"They were saying, 'John Kerry flip flops, John Kerry flip flops,' and I thought 'John Kerry — flip-flops,'" said Piccola, the son of Pennsylvania state Senate Majority Whip Jeff Piccola. ..

Piccola and his two business partners are Republicans. But their firm now is mulling over marketing other products with a bipartisan flavor — including, perhaps, T-shirts poking fun at Vice President Dick Cheney's now-infamous outburst in June, when he used an obscenity in an exchange with Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record) on the Senate floor.

"They're more capitalistic than conservative," Piccola said of his partners.

2. Yeah, the usual positive message from Bushco.
Hope they all slip and fall on their oversized asses. Those things are deadly on wet floors.

Perhaps a well-timed bucket dumping would help?

13. It's completely appropriate for the disciples of the "vacation" president
And someone needs to point that out as the real reason they are wearing flip-flops. They are just coming up with a convenient reason not to change their shoes, as his base are non wage-earners.

Dems should come in their work boots

With T-shirts that say "Let's let Bush go AWOL again...In November"

and "Mission NOT Accomplished"

Or "It's time for Bush to desert the military again, this time permanently".

8. maybe there will be some broken glass on the streets
or other foot-injuring nonsense.

"They're more capitalistic than conservative,"<--- I love that. That sums up most of the rich Republicans for you. That's why the rich pro-lifers in PA show unconditional support for pro-choice Republicans like Tom Ridge and Arlen Specter but say pro-life Dems like Bob Casey are immoral and have no family values. assholes

47. the texas delegation will be wearing custromized cowboy boots.....
Learned that fun fact in my local newspaper/shopper.

Delegate Pat Peale was pictured wearing her offical chimpy logo boots and "a chemical filtration mask which is required by convention organizers in the event of an attack or if gas is used by police to repel convention protesters."

Flip-flops on the streets of New York might not be a good idea. Too many places to stub your toe.

Boots are kinda stupid too. One thing i remember about Manhattan is that there is a lot of walking involved. These dumbass Texans are going to get major blisters walking around in their new shiney stiff boots.

Comfy tennis shoes might be the way to go.

49. Umm.. Flip Flops are the #1 fashion right now..
So, who'd notice? I think the flip-flop thing is probably the stupidest, most immature idea the republicans have come up with. Who cares? I guess they'd rather have a guy that can't admit he's wrong, or can't admit that adjustments need to be made.. just stays the course, like a dimwitted bull.

Kerry is speaking in our area today, so the media is reporting that the REpublicans are inviting the public to a waffle breakfast before the rally, to "educate people on Kerry's flip flops". I say go, eat the food, and leave.
