Military records counter a Kerry critic
Fellow skipper's citation refers to enemy fire
By Michael Dobbs
Updated: 11:12 p.m. ET Aug. 18, 2004

WASHINGTON - Newly obtained military records of one of Sen. John F. Kerry's most vocal critics, who has accused the Democratic presidential candidate of lying about his wartime record to win medals, contradict his own version of events.

In newspaper interviews and a best-selling book, Larry Thurlow, who commanded a Navy Swift boat alongside Kerry in Vietnam, has strongly disputed Kerry's claim that the Massachusetts Democrat's boat came under fire during a mission in Viet Cong-controlled territory on March 13, 1969. Kerry won a Bronze Star for his actions that day.

1. to quote the Talking Heads

"Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don´t do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts don´t stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape"

Suck on it Mr. Turdlow.

2. This was also on the WP site. They got the docs through the FOIA.
I'm really glad this is making the rounds in the media. Puts those PIA's to shame.

4. Thurlow was just on (by phone) with

Candy Cow Crowley on CNN.

His claim is that his citation (just released under FOIA) was
written by KERRY (even though Kerry's name doesn't appear and the
witness was someone else).

Candy didn't ask him if he read the citation at the time of
accepting his bronze star. And if he did, why he didn't object
at the time. And if he didn't read it, why not? What did he
think he was getting a bronze star for? Not leaving because
another boat ran into a mine (he claims that Kerry was the only
boat that ran)? Or because his boat opened up on the bank of
the river "just because"?

She let him go on and on and on, without even challenging any of
his statements, including the last one where he says that he
hasn't had ANY contact with Bush or the committee to re-elect.

5. What is the deal with the S180 (SL80?) form? First they were
saying that Kerry's records for the Purple Hearts were "sealed" and now they are saying his "personnel file" is sealed. There sure are a lot of seals this election season.

6. Memory -- misty water colored memories...
How is these swift boat liars have such great memories? I can't even remember what happened a week ago, much less 30 years ago.

The answer is, they don't. They are nothing but a pack of lying scum that would sail their own moms up the river just to get a crumb from Bushco.

over and over again. I would bet that someone is paying them or is planning to pay them alot of money, enough to retire well on.

That kind of payoff would be small change to the folks benefiting from Bush's transfer of resources.

I don't expect any apologies from these people. They are now political mercenaries, who have sold themselves, and their honor, off for scraps.
