Corzine Indicates He Will Not Seek Governorship of New Jersey
Senator Jon S. Corzine of New Jersey strongly indicated today that he would not be seeking the governorship of his home state anytime soon, saying in a statement that Gov. James E. McGreevey had told him he was determined to hold office until Nov. 15, removing the possibility of a special election.

Last week, Mr. McGreevey, whose term expires in January 2006, announced his intention to step down after disclosing he had had a sexual affair with a man he had put on the state payroll.
...
Mr. Corzine said in his statement that ``today I spoke to Governor McGreevey to express my concerns about this difficult time for his family, the governor himself, and most importantly, the people of New Jersey.''

``The governor made clear in our conversation his absolute intent to serve until Nov. 15, 2004," Mr. Corzine said. "I accept that decision as final.

1. No surprises for me.
You can bet your last centime that the DNC has stepped into all of this. And that is a good thing. These power-hungry chuckleheads here in NJ have gotten way out of control and need their chains jerked.

Sheer idiocy.

4. I completely agree.
NJ needs a senator of Corzine's stature and influence and smarts in DC. Sorry, but Bob Menendez ain't no Jon Corzine.

This has all come about due to a crass and craven machine politician named George Norcross, from South Jersey. Norcross deserves the shit kicked out of him by the DSC, once this thing settles down.

5. Republicans are hated in NJ....
no matter how much trouble they decide to make, NJ will not vote in a republican. Old governor Christy worse governor ever and worse to serve under bush protecting our environment, has out attacing democrats. Democrats got too much on her and pretty soon she'll be hiding under the bed.
