Bush Revises Views On 'Combat' in Iraq
(Of course, this is buried on pg A15...)

By Dana Milbank and Bradley Graham
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, August 19, 2003; Page A15

President Bush, revising his earlier characterization of the fighting in Iraq, said in an interview released yesterday that combat operations are still underway in that country.

In an interview with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service given on Thursday and released by the White House yesterday, Bush interrupted the questioner when asked about his announcement on May 1 of, as the journalist put it, "the end of combat operations."

"Actually, major military operations," Bush replied. "Because we still have combat operations going on." Bush added: "It's a different kind of combat mission, but, nevertheless, it's combat, just ask the kids that are over there killing and being shot at."

3. "We've got about 10,000 troops there,(Afghanistan) which is down from
obviously,major combat operations,"he(bush) said.

In fact, the 10,000 troops in Afghanistan represent the highest number of U.S. soldiers in the country since the war there began.

The man is totally incompetent, not even aware of the fact that we have ESCALATED the number of troops in Afghanistan.

Why is this necessary, to protect the poppy fields, the oil pipeline, or to try to build stability in the region?

Is this a sign(escalation) of what will happen in Iraq?

Afghanistan is now so far off the media radar screen that Al Qaeda terrorist cell there and getting Bin Laden "dead or alive" no longer seem to matter.

Meanwhile, lost lives and billions of dollars continue to spill in Iraq and this incompetent, arrogant monster, under undoubtedly orders from Rove, changes his "Mission accomplished (who can forget the banners) story.

That is one photo-op, his Top-Gun session, that needs to be used against him 24/7.
